WYIN-Ch. 56 WYIN prides itself on having shows no other public television stations in the area carry. For example, in affiliation with ESPN Regional Television, WYIN will air college basketball games featuring the Big 10's Purdue and Indiana. Channel 56 will also produce several Northwest Indiana college games. (Check local listings for dates and times.) The station also carries locally produced news and public affairs programs targeted to its Northwest Indiana viewers.

"56 News" (6 p.m. weekdays) covers news, weather and sports for the region. "Indiana Now!" (7 p.m. Fridays) features local, state and national leaders. The bubble machine will be going full tilt this fall on 'The Lawrence Welk Show" (8 p.m.

Saturdays) as WYIN broadcasts 52 new repackaged programs from Welk's 20-year-plus network television career. Music lovers can view numerous exclusive rock, jazz, classical and pop concerts. Featured artists include jazz legend Lionel Hampton, opera superstar Cecilia Bar-toli and artists Earth, Wind Fire. (Check local listings for dates and times). WYIN broadcasts several health-related programs including locally produced "The Collective Woman," "Survive Cancer? Yes!" and 'Take It to Heart" (the three shows rotate into the 7 p.m.

Monday slot). Fans of "Taggart" (9 p.m. Wednesdays) will see 14 new episodes this season. A police drama set in modern-day Scotland, 'Taggart" stars Mark Manus as Chief Inspector James Taggart. Radio highlights Diamond Gems: 6 a.m Sunday on WAIT-AM 850.

Excerpts of the vintage broadcast of the Milwaukee Braves' pennant-clincher in 1958. Remember When: 1 p.m. Sunday on WAIT-AM 850. Old-time radio programming including: The "All-American Jam Session," the second of two jazzy musical programs; "The Calvalcade of America" that includes "The Story of FT. "Fibber McGee and "The Great Gildersleeve" in an episode when Gildersleeve gets a case of the hiccups.

Sounding It Out: 5 p.m. Sunday on WYPA-AM 820. Hosts Kay Henderson and Julia Mossbridge talk with Mar ianne Williamson, author of "A Return to Love" and "The Healing of America." The Score, Sportsradio 1160: 6:45 p.m. Sunday on WSCR-AM 1160. Exclusive, live NFL coverage of the Philadelphia at Minnesota game.

XRT Sunday Night Concert: 8p.m. Sunday on WXRT-FM 93.1. "Live" concert featuring Ben Harper, who performed at the Metro this summer. The House of Blues Radio Hour: 10 p.m. Sunday on WXRT-FM 93.1.
