If the ob servations of the weather 'bureau were no more accurate than its style of spelling they would not be very valuable. Prescott people spell It "Phenix," but the elimination of the has always been attributed to the jealousy of the Prescott'ians. The only argument that can be offered in favor of "Phenix" is a slight saving of time and ink, which is much more than offset by the initiation of a mythological and historic name. It is set forth in the application that the consideration, $8,000, named in the bill of sale did not pass and that a considerable part of it was fictitious.
