Telecommunicators of the Year The 911 Dispatchers honored as 1995 Telecommunicators of the Year are Julie Smith of the Galveston Police Department, Kelly Wright of the Kemah Police Department, Jody Roher of the Hitchcock Police Department, Chad Gardner of the Dickinson Police Department, Harry Whiting of the Texas City Police Department and Gilandra Williams of the La Marque Police Department. Also winning the award were Mike Benavides of the Galveston County Sheriff's Department and Jolene White of the Santa Fe Police Department.

Green Team The Green Team Conservation Club at Austin Intermediate School has collected tons of recylcables this school year in an effort to improve the Earth. Participating fifth- and sixth- graders recycle cans and papers every school day.
