UzsDER THE mDIRECTrz Or J. AA. DELARUELLE, Pa.ctr.a.; Professor of French and Latin. Professor of English and English Lit Ve erature.

ad ENG a residentof this locality, for the last fourLF teen years, having assisted Mrs. Delaruelle in the direction of herschool for Young Ladies, founded in the year 1844, and which terminated only at the death of its foundress, I expect to be able fully to answer the expectation of those parents who shall have confided the education of their children to me. I will do every thing that depend upon me to assist the development of their intelligence, and as far as it may be possible, to Improve in them those intellectaal qualities which ought to be the characteristics of men whom the citizens of a free country may one day call to fill the high stations in government. I shall do all that depend upon me to make them good citizens and good fathers of families. For this purpose a liberal education developing the intellect is required; an educationfree from contracted and antiintellectual ideas, the offspring of ignorance and superstition, her ordinary companion.

But a knowledge of science, the exercise of the polite arts, will not suffice by themselves for a comA plete education. Religious ideas should also be inculcated in their young minds. The belief in one God is as rational as it is necessary. Though the rites by which we honor the Divinity differ as to form, they prove one and the same object, that is to offer hommage to the Great Creator, the Architect of the Universe. Our religious motto should then be Toleration, lAne of God and our neighbor.

Every attention will be bestowed upon the food will be healthy and abundant. They shall have for their recreation and the exercise necessary to their health, large and spacious play grounds. In fine, every thing will be done for the physical and moral improvement of the students. Corporal pu 5hmentexpresslyforbidden. Parents will receive once every three months a bulletin of the health and progress of their children.
