What they produce, with the best designing and draughting talent obtainable, may be accepted by men as correct especially when all of these makers so nearly agree in style-essentials as they do this season. Even if one cr two of our makers had failed to forecast fashions correctly, we should still have the others to fall back upon.

But all our styles are right. Practically all our sack coats are made with vents two side-vents or one centre vent, carefully tailored, so that they will not flare open some are stitched down. The moderately-deep centre vent is in largest demand, but many young men prefer the two side-vents. For men who don't keep up with the fashions, we have some without vents. Men may always be assured of getting correct styles here that's one reason why this has become Philadelphia Foremost Clothing Store.

Another reason is the certainty of securing reliable quality and best possible value. Spring Suits and Overcoats $10.00, $12.00, $15.00, $18.00 to $30.00. hnsband of Katherine Fardy (nee PfauL nl son of Thomas land the late Margaret Fardv. his 48th ye. Relatives -and friends -are invited to atteooV the funeral, on Saturday, at Both' Sides Claiming Victory, But Each. Side Is Fearful of Defeat Mayor Weaver made it evident yesterday that the candidates of the Mack combine for the presidencies of Select and -oraraon Councils, who are also his favorites, Lave not yet enough pledges to elect them. r.

Mayor Weaver sent for members of both branches of Councils and sought to persuade them to vote for Messrs. Croth-ers and Armstrong. While Mayor Weaver was at Work in the Citv Hall, John M. Mack and Harry A. Mac-key, with the aid of the Vares and others conspicuous in the new ward leaders cojnbjhe, were doing missionery work elsewhere in the same direction.

Mayor Weaver got some, very warm comments irom several of the Council-men whom he tried "to convert." One of them to3d him that he Tegarded the new Mack contracting combine quite as bad as any combination that has sought to rule the politics of the city, and that he could not: see. that he was advancing the cause of reform by supporting their candidates. iHe told, the Mayor that promises were being made, right and left, to Cosancilmen' in the name of his administration for votes for these candidates, and while the Mayor insisted that such-, promises were made without authority, thd Councilman stood by his original statement. He also paid his respects to Mack and Maekey atul left the Mayor's office without being 'converted." The Mayor was asked why lie had sent for the Councilmen. "I sent for them because I want to see if I cannot bring about for the last year of my term absolute harmony between the legislative and the executive branches of the city's government," he replied.

"Is it true' the Mayor was asked, "that membei-s of Select Council were told that officeholders in their wards would lose their positions unless they supported Mr. Crothers for president?" "That is absolutely untrue," was the Mayor's 3-eply. "I would like to know who made that statement." "It has also been said by members of Common Council that you promised to take care of them and see that they were appointed on good committees if they supported Mr. Armstrong," the Mayor was told. "That is not so," replied the Mayor.

"No one has the right to say that, and if it has been said, it has not the support of my administration." "Did you ask the Councilmen who came to Bee j'ou if they would support Mr. Armstrong and Mr. "I summoned them merelv in the interests of the city and with the purpose of establishing harmony between the two branches of the city government." The Mayor was asked again if he did not solicit the support of the Councilmen for the candidacies of Armstrong and Crothers, but he evaded the question. The leaders of both sides in the Select Cbuncilmanie fight, where twenty-two votes are necessary to elect a president, are claiming to have a majority, but neither will give the list of names of those upon -whose votes they are counting. Each side is afraid that there are one or more "planes" in their, list; that is, men sent, into; their camp by their opponents to find out "what is going Henry the nominee of the Republican caucus for president of Select Council, said last night: "I received another new promise of support to-day, and I have reason to believe that I will be elected on Monday nest" Jacob Henderson, the Republican Caucus nominee in Common Council, was quite as sanguine.

Mayor Weaver to3d several Councilmen yesterday that he had no doubt that Messrs. Crothers and Armstrong will be elected. M'FETRIOGE TQ PAY 7 FOR WIFE AND CHILD Former Pitcher for Phillies Plead-! ed Salary Was Cut to $14 a Week John McFetridge, formerly a pitcher on the Philadelphia Ball Club, appeared in the Desertion Court before Judge Davis yesterday and through his counsel, John M. Patterson, asked that the decree of the court, three years ago, 'which ordered him to pay his wife 12 a week, be re-auced to a smaller figure. He succeeded in having it cut to $7 a week bv demonstrating to the satisfaction of the c.urt that his mother and two brothers, who conduct- the printing establishment of McFetridge Sons, had cut his salary from $33.33 to S14 a week.

Counsel for Mrs. McFetridge argued that this reduction was not made in good faith and subrenaed the two other brothers in the firm and had the books produced. Both brothers testified that the reduction had been made because it was discovered 'that a thoroughly competent bookkeeper could be obtained for that money. The books were offered in evidence and showed the cut in the man's salary. Davis said he could not see any bad faith, but, on-the contrary, the evidence feeemed to be all in good faith, and that there being no contradiction of the testimony he would reduce the order to $7 a week for the support of the wife and 3-year-old boy.

BROUGHT BACK BY A BOND Bergr Left His Bride to Resume Legislative Duties Special to The Inquirer. TRENTON, N. March Herman A. Berg, who "vvas married' at his home in Jersey City last night, came to Trenton to-day to resume his duties, not knowing that his associate? had adjourned yesterday afternoon for the 'week. "They placed me under five thousand dollars bonds to keep me from going away on a' honeymoon," he said, referring to the "joshing" he received last Monday evening previous to the presentation to him by hi" associate Assemblymen of a handsome chest of table silver, "and here I am." He admitted that he had not read the papers.

Then he concluded: "Well, I'll take the next train home." And he fled from the Capitol. Squire Schmitz Made Dog Warden Mavor Ellis in Camden yesterday announced the appointment of Justice" Phil-ip Schmitz. secretary of the S. C. as dog warden.
