A It Is decidedly unnsafe. The condition you refer to, called water bloom, is due to a profuse'growth of algae.

Sheep, cattle, geese and other animals that drink this water often become violently ill and may die. Humana who swallow this water while swimming may shortly suffer severe nausea followed by vomiting, diarrhea and pains in head, arms and legs. Canadian authorities, Investigating waterbloom, have isolated poisons from this alga-Infested water and now issue warnings to bathers to avoid swimming in lakes whose surfaces are covered by greenish blue slime. Do you still recommend injections of flu vaccine before winter sets in? A Most decidedly. And especially for older persons (50 and up) and all those who suffer any jhronic disease.

These groups provided most of the 86,000 deaths from epidemic influenza that occurred in excess of what was expected over the three-year period from 1957 to I960. Thus high-risk persons are entitled to all the protection we can give them. Remember that the vaccine is the influenza virus vaccine, not the influenza bacillus vaccine or any complicated "cold" or "respiratory" vaccine. Since the protection afforded by influenza virus vaccine is of relatively brief duration, susceptible persons are entitled to a first In- jcct'nn in EARLY Fall and a second JUST AFTER THE NEW YEAR. Taken at these times, the height of the Immunity is reached at the time of the usual height of (he epidemics.
