THE DAILY REPUBLIC; Mttchrit 8, a U951 Dog Days Last All Year For Real Dog Lovers By JOYCE CMy Seetoty Batter Sportsmen own dogs, but real lovers are owned, body and soul. It has been said by authorities -on dogs that the pets take over the characteristics of their owners, but a real dog lover win try his best to fit his personality to suit his dog. "If your dog is happy, your home has a pleasant atmosphere, and is suitable for bringing up one dog lover said. Now you take the Rev. and Mrs.

Paul Palmer, of Muskogee, Okla. who visited here a week ago. Then: mongrel dog Albert has been running their lives for about years. When asked who was Wiring care of the parish in their absence, they said Albert was, with the help of a retired clergyman. And they were not implying that the place was going to the dogs, either.

They insist that Albert can speak English, and can read. And in a letter they had while on vacation, the retired clergyman said Albert was quoting the Bible to him. He said Albert looked at him and said, "Jesus I know; Paul I know; but who are you?" His honor the mayor, Damon Clark and Mrs. Clark are currently making a home for Smoky, a seven- month-old black cocker. Smoky is an exceptional dog, and doesn't expect too much of his honor and the town's first lady.

He does demand Cokes, which he drinks out of bottles, and that necessitates someone holding them for him. Re also likes to lead the horse around by a rope, and goes for a little gallop, bare-back. It is embarrassing for his honor, but Smoky has kleptomaniac tendencies and is very prone to bringing home the neighbor children's dolls. He is also fond of dragging home fish poles, and other equipment to be found around the block. Mr.

and Mrs. Louis Herzog are suiting their personality to Nick, they say is an alleged, cocker. Nick is fond of company, and when guests arrive, tries to please them by bringing in all the shoes he can find in the house. He also likes to escort the guests and family to dinner, especially if it is fried chicken, and with great authority takes them by the hand and pulls them to the table. He is suspected of ulterior motives, because each member of the family surreptitiously feeds him morsels of chicken, sub table, of course.

He is a fine watch dog when the family is at home, but hides when strangers approach if he is alone in the house. Dr. and Mrs. W. H.

Fritz are just being broken in by their dog. Mrs. Fritz claimed she didnt want a dog, but now she proudly claims Putzy, a blond cocker. She says they were waiting for her papers to give her a beautiful name, but the children in the family became impatient and named her Putiy. She spends a lot of her time with the children, but doesnt.

neglect the training of the rest of the family either. During a recent vacation the Fritz's took, she stayed with a neighbor, and now that the family is back, is conscious of her responsibility in training the neighbor, as well. Carl Bouquet is pretty well trained by his wire haired terrier, Jiggs. Jiggs is not permitted to run alone, and if Carl reads too long after dinner before the nightly run, Jiggs his own collar and leash, and rolls on it until the walk starts. These walks are usually to the park, where Jiggs plays ball with himself until he is tired.

He is a good fighter, and very jealous, so Carl has learned to spurn all other dogs, and cleave only to Jiggs. Life is happier that way. Mr. and Mrs. Art Raber belong to a very aristocratic, long haired daschund by name of Odo von der Salzberg.

His name was Hasso von Schalkental and his mother's name was Elsi von der Salzberg. He was one of the litter bred in the Unterlenningen kennels. The Utters are named alphabetically, his brothers name was Olo and his sister's name was Oma. Odo acquired the Rabers in Stuttgart, Germany, when they were stationed there. He came to this country with his wife, but unfortunately she died in childbirth, leaving him only his son, the Rabers ud their children.

His son has since been sent to Mrs. Rater's mother in New York, so Odo now has all the responsibility of the family. The Raber children have recently tried to teach him to chew bubble gum, but his continental dignity will not permit him to assimilate this American habit.
