A bobcat measuring nearly throe feet was shot last week near Ash Hill in Butler county. Bobcats are reported to be doing some damage to in Butler county, according to Aden Baldridge of Poplar Bluff.

They served Ice cream and cake until a late hour in the, night. The proceeds will be used by the girls to visit the club meeting at Baptist Hill later this month. Everett Alburty and son of Detroit, Mich, are visiting friends and relatives In this vicinity. Mr. Alburty Is son of the late James F. Alburty who resided here with his family many years ago. The Mr.

Alburty first taught our local school in the old school house on the hill northeast of the present school site. Later he was postmaster, hotel keeper and a partner in the general mercantile store of Douthitt and Alburty. RITCHEY Mrs. A. E.

Lofgren and daughter Louise, spent from Saturday till Tuesday visiting relatives in Kansas City. Miss Helen Douthitt of Springfield was a week-end visitor with her parents, and Mrs. Clyde Douthitt and family. They drove to Monday evening to be with Mr. Parks' parents over the 4th of July holiday. Members of the Presbyterian church had the pleasure of hearing their old friend, Dr. Hugh Voorhies of San Diego, in a flute solo such as he used to give during his former residence here, at the Sunday morning service. We are glad to report Mrs. W. R. Urle as improving, altrough slowly. She is now able to sit up part of the time.

Knotts, former Neosho grocery merchant is now operating a tourist camp, grocery store and filling station at Coleman, Texas. Mrs, Knotts Is with lim and the business Is doing better than he expected. Charles Sublett deputy sheriff, ivho had the misfortune to be accldently shot in the leg about five weeks ago and was a patient in Sale hospital following it was dismissed Thursday and returned to his home west of town. The leg was placed in a oast and doing well. Dr.

Noble T. McCall and family of Arkansas City, a former Neo- jho boy was among the visitors in Newton county this week, They spent some time with the former's mother in Fairvlew and stopped in Neosho to make their annual visit with Mr. and Mrs. H. G.

Embrey, old friends of the family. Dr. McCall is a successful dentist of Arkansas City, having established his office there soon after finishing dental college several years ago. Mrs. E.

J. Price of this city and Miss Elisabeth Ray of Cassville arrived home from a six- weeks trip to California, Sunday afternoon, making the homeward- bound trip in record time. Their driver out was Junior Fpresman, who stopped off at Phoenix, to take a Job he had secured. Returning they were driven by a University of California student who lives at Enid, (Okla. Mrs.

Marie Tatum who went out with them, Is remaining to attend to some business matters. Mrs. Price told of delightful visits with Mr, and Mrs. Gene MoKnight Mr. and Mrs.

An interesting church affair of ast week was the annual Joint meeting of the Ladies Club and Missionary society of the Congregational church held In the dining room of the church, Thursday. Lunch was served at 12:30. Following this a business session of the Ladles Club was held. The program for the day was put on by members of the Missionary society. It was opened by a devotional service conducted by Miss Nora Smith.

Mrs. J. B. Wagor was program leader and the topics presented were upon Japanese schools, giyen by Mrs. Hal Karbe, and Indian schools by Miss Daisy Peck who has had first hand information from the Haskeli Institute.

The meeting was made unusually pleasant by the presence of Mrs. R. E. Moore of Red Oak, Iowa, a former active member. Picnic at Golf Club One of the pleasant social affairs of this week was the meeting of a group of young married folk of the town for an evening at the golf club.

The men held a golf tournament and the women enjpyed a game of bridge early in the evening, and a picnic supper was served later. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Reniok, Dr. and Mrs.

Lee Stinson Dinner and supper wero cooked on a camp fire on the creek and the hot afternoon was spent swimming in Cedar creek. The Saturday Night Club met with Mrs. Lee Stinson last Saturday night with twelve members present They were entertained out in the big front yard. The Jolly Sunshine club met. with Mrs.

Mae Johnson on Thursday with fourteen members present Two members were Initiated, Mrs. Bernard Pittman and Mra Arch Anderson. The afternoon was spent in games and conversation.
