Lofts has put a bonbon assortment on the market, not necessarily for Thanksgiving, but it looks pretty enough for a holiday gift anyway.

It is an 11-ounce box containing 23 pieces in five different flavors. There are lemon bonbons with lemon cream centers, vanilla bonbons with nougat centers and top ped with a pecan. The chocolate coated bonbons have a chocolate butter cream center; the green candies are piastachio coated and with a pink coconut center. The pink ones are vanilla flavored with a nut caramel center. Sliced Beef in Gravy With so much concentration on turkey and Thanksgiving, we almost forget that there are other, meals to be served.

If you are in a rush, the item we have in mind should be just the one you need sliced beef in brown gravy canned ready to be served to make a hot beef sandwich. The beef is in nice slices, not chunks, and there is enough to make two to three sandwiches and plenty of gravy to go with them. The meat has been thoroughly heated and needs only to be reheated to be served, so don't try to cook it. Merely heat in a flat skillet and serve. It is a wonderful idea for a quick lunch or emergency supper dish.

We are going to suggest two different pies today, so you canTiave time to try them out before the big feast day. Spicy Crust One is an applesauce pie that comes with a delightful, spicy crust. It is something truly differ-" ent and should bring your Thanksgiving dinner to a dramatic close.

The recipe makes two nine inch pies enough for after dinner dessert, and a snack with a glass of milk at bedtime. Our second suggestion is Mocha-Ohiffon Pie, a happy blend of coffee and chocolate flavors. It can be served in a graham cracker or pre-baked crust, because the filling is double-boiler cooked. The.recipe calls for easy-to-use instant coffee, a favorite with -modern cooks. Applesauce Pie 1 recipe Spiced Pastry 2 cups unsweetened applesauce Sugar to taste 1 2 teaspoon salt cup melted butter Grated peel of 2 lemons 1 quart milk 2 eggs, beaten 1 jint whipping cream (optional) Prepare pastry according to directions below.

Sweeten applesauce to taste. Add salt, melted butter and lemon peel. Scald milk. Gradually add to beaten eggs, stirring constantly. Fold in applesauce mixture.

Pour into pastry-lined pie plates and bake in a hot oven, 450 degrees, 10 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate, 350 degrees, and bake 25 to 30 minutes longer or until inserted knife comes out clean. Cool. Whip and sweeten cream. Spread over baked pies.

Spiced Pastry 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour teaspoon baking soda cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon salt 'x teaspoon cinnamon teaspoon ginger teaspoon doves 23 cud shortening 1 tablespoon vinegar 3 tablespoons orange Juice or other citrus fruit juice Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Mix together vinegar and fruit juice and add to dry ingredients. Mix lightly with a fork. Roll dough inch thick and line 2 8-inch pie plates.

Set aside. Mocha Chiffon Pie 1 envelope unfavored gelatin cup cold water 1 package semi-sweet chocolate 'z cup sugar teaspoon salt i cup milk 1 tablespoon Nescafe 3 eggs, separated 1 cup heavy cream, whipped 1 baked 9-inch pie shell Soften gelatin in cold water; in top of double boiler put semi-sweet chocolate, cup sugar, salt, milk and Nescafe. Cook over hot water, stirring- to blend. Beat egg yolks; add mocha mixture slowly, stirring rapidly. Return to double boiler; cook over hot water, stirring constantly, until thickened.

Remove from heat; add gelatin; stir until dissolved. Chill until thickened. I Beat egg whites until stiff; add remaining cup sugar while con- I tinuing to beat. Fold in mocha i mixture and whipped cream. Turn into pie shell; chill until firm.

Prune Filling Bolsters Cookies Who does not like fruit filled cookies? This time, let's make prune filling. Prune Filled Cookies 3 dozen) 1 cup butier 2 cups sugar 3 eggs, beaten 2 teaspoons vanilla 3" cups sifted flour Ji teaspoon salt 3 teaspoons baking powder Prune filling Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add flour sifted with salt and baking powder. Mix well. Divide dough into four parts and wrap in waxed paper.

Chin. Roll one part at a time on lightly floured board. Cut into rounds with cooky cutters. Top rounds should be slightly larger than bottom rounds. Cut small slit each top round.

Place larger rounds on' cooky sheets, add small portion of prune filling to each, cover with top rounds, and press edges together. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Prune filling: Pit 1 cups cooked prunes and cut into small pieces. Peel va medium orange, cut into pieces, and combine with prunes, cup prune juice, 13 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon butter. Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
