E. Dodge, of Detroit, was launched this afternoon at the plant of the Puscy Jones Company. The vessel was christened by Mrs. H. E.

Dodge, wife of the owner. Numerous whistles were blown as the craft took the water. The boat is 243 feet feet beam and 12 feet 10 inches draft. Among the guests were Mayor and Mrs. B.

Marx, of Detroit; Mrs. John V. Dodge, Judge and Mrs. George P. C'odd, of Detroit; Robert Tannehill and Robert Oakman, of the same city and Mayor James F.

Price and a number of local persons. A luncheon at the Hotel duPont followed the launching. The building at Delaware avenue and West street, owned by Nathan Barsky, haa been sold and it is understood that (jeneral T. Coleman duPont is the pur chaser and will use the property as a dairy, lhe price paidwas which is nearly double lhe price which the former owner paid for it. Delaware avenue in front of the building is to be widened and this will greatly improve tnis property.

to Xava1o Pro- OBITUARY Samuel Charles Borden Special to lhe Inquirer. Dec. Charles Borden. 79 years old, one the l'egt known horticulturists in the State died at his home, near here, last nigh I. His death was due to heart trouble, but he had been an invalid since he was injured in a trolley accident ten years ago.

Mr. Borden was a member of a wealthy Cincinnati family, and in his boyhood was well acquainted with Abraham Lin- cr.ln, who trcquently visited bis parents His grandfather, General Borden, served in the war of 1812. In 1S04 Samuel Borden enlisted in the Kentucky Piflea At the close of the Civil War he came to Philadelphia. Here be married Miss Emma Pritchett, daughter of Thomas J'ntciiett. a leatiier merchant.

Borden, with two sons and a daughter, survive her husband. The I-ons are Henry Clay Rorden, professor biology in the West Philadelphia High Vhool for Boy 3. and George W. Borden certified public accountant. The daniliter is Miss Pritchett Borden, a teacher in the National Farm School.

The funeral will be conducted Tuesday in St. Clement's Episcopal Church by Bev. Charles Hutchinson and Rev. Charles Quinn. Senator W.

W. Smalley TRENTON, N. Dec. 27 State Senator William W. Smalley, of Somerset, died at Bound Brook today after a year's illness.

The Republicans have a two-thirds majority in the new Senate and it is said that it is unlikely a special election will be held to till the Somerset vacancy. Senator Smalley was born in -Middlesex county, near Bound Brook, December 17. 1S.0. For the last thirty-three years he bad been in the lumber manufacturing busities-'s at Bound Brook. He was president of the First National Bank of Bound Brook.
