Iowa State started the fireworks as Weeks got his passing attack working and Iowa State went 73 yards from the kickoff. Weeks threw four passes for 40 yards and finally whipped around the Nebraska 'left end for 19 yards to score the touchdown. But when the wind carried Bob Clendening's kick wide, Iowa State was still behind 7 to 6. From the following kickoff Nebraska put the game in the bag as Reynolds began punching con- holes through the State line.

From their 40, Nebraska went 60 yards, Reynolds gaining 35 of yards with darting slashes into 'the line. From the 4 yard line, with Iowa bunched expecting a Reyn 1 smash, Adduci skipped end to score. Reynolds kicked the point and the score was 14 to 6. Just to make it doubly sure Reynolds skipped over from the seven Nebraska's third touchdown in fourth period. That gave the rambler a total of eight points today and a season total of 134 points.

He is the nation's leading scorer. Iowa State's second touchdown came in the final seconds of the game. Jerry McGlynn smashed the ball over from the one-foot line. It had been advanced to that point on a Weeks to Sy Wilhelmi forward pass for 18 yards. This time Jciendening kicked the point.

Iowa State's well coached As: fense slowed Nebraska's rushing game down to a mere 267 yards Reynolds, carrying the ball '86 times, gained 109 of those yards. Fighting Illinois Takes To To Whip Favored Ohio State 14-7 CHAMPAIGN, 111., the great running team, sprung two aerial touchdowns off trick plays in the second period to surprise mighty Ohio State 14-7 Saturday and shoot ahead in the Big Ten bowl race. It was the first Big Ten loss for State. the nation's top team in the AP poll. Muffled on the ground as never before this season, the Illini pecked nt the Buckeyes' weakest spot, pass defense, and clicked superbly before a capacity throng of 71,119 wild fans.

Ahead Of Badgers The win, the mini's fourth in five league games, showed them ahead of Wisconsin in their torrid duel for the bowl bid. Each has one more game to play. Little Fred Major, wearing a chin mask to protect a broken jaw bone, faked a jump pass in the first two minutes of the second quarter and finally fired the ball to Don Stevens. The former Youngstown, Ohio, prep star snared it on the Ohio 28 and, as defender Fred Bruney lunged at his heels, skipped loose to flee a touchdown. The play was good for 52 yards and the tally was Stevens' first in two years at Illinois.

Six minutes later the Illini thrust again through the air to what became the clinching marker. The drive was touched off by Illini Joe Hall's recovery of Chuck Gandee's bobble on the Illinois 47. With hobbled Johnny Karras streaking 12 yards, the Illini covered the distance goalward in seven plays with major finally pitching the last five yards to Stevens in the end zone. Ohio State's Vic Janowicz, every bit an ail-American, and Tony Curillo, the injured Buckeye quarterback who played brilliantly, used End Tom Watson as their passing target on three plays that gained 59 yards. Janowicz eventually slammed over from the 4 to end an 83 yard surge in ten plays.

He also converted- Two intercepted passes and a recovered fumble quelled Ohio State just as it appeared that the Buckeyes were wound up for touchdowns. Herb Neathery filched a Curcille pitch in the third, and Al Brosky minutes later stole a Janowicz aerial. Both times the Bucks were striving to piece midfield and seemed to be rolling. In all, Ohio State outgained Illinois in total yardage 299 to 209 btit the Illinl's fast charging line held the seven-point, favorites when it counted most nnd kidnapped their passes at timely intervals. Can Clinch Crown Ineligible for the Rose bowl, Ohio Slate can cinch the Big Ten crown by beating Michigan next week and also eliminate any hopes the Wolverines may have of going to Pasadena.

Northwestern Michigan defeated for its third win against one loss, to Illinois, and a tie, to Minnesota. Illinois could cinch the bowl bid with victory over Northwestern next week, which would give Coach Ray Eliot's outfit a 5-1 leaguo mark. Wisconsin, with the advantage of a seven game schedule, winds up against Minnesota. A triumph would give the Badgers a 5-2 record. Illinois' only loss in eight games for the entire season was 7-6 to Wisconsin in a downpour.
