Saturday was an eventful day for the stutU'iits ot Princeton Colietie. There has long leen a rivalry in tune ball between Vale ud Princeton, and in the rast Princeton has been singularly successful. In spite of uumeions challenges from Princeton lltere had been no trial of strengthfoi' several years.

Ibis year Yale has a better nine than before, and yesterday redeemed their reputation. Saturday morning was still cloudy and the ground wet and Jlippery from the recent rains. Princeton having won the toss sent Yale to the Oat. The first ball was struck foul by Maxwell and moot iwaniifiiilv cot on the bound by Davis. The best catch of the day was made by Mann, ot the Princeton, he being Hie only freshman on cither nine.

The strong point ot the Princeton was their fielding, which, with one or two exceptions, was worthy of any professional nine; but, as they had never been used to battinc underhand throwing, they failed in striking. The Princeton nine remonstrated against the pitching as being overhand, but they were overruled by the umpire, Mr. Pierce Barnes, formerly a substitute in the Yale nine, as also in the lied Stocking nine. The following is the score: 1.4 2(? if ilh Uh t'(A "lh Qlh TuliJ. Vale 0 1 0 1 0 0 4 3 0 9 Princeton ..1 000 0 01 0 0 2 The Princeton nine, having protected several times and their pitcher having been warned when lie threw under-hand halls, only consented to finish the game after entering a proW.it that the game thouid not count.

ConU-nt for Price In In the afternoon the annual contest for prizes in gymnastics took place. Princeton lias the finest Ollege gymnasium in the t'nited States, and the I udeuts take a corresponding interest in athletic yxercises. The building was packed with visitors, among them liobert Bonner, of the New York lnhnr. who.

Dalles, the latter being one of the finest thing of the kind ever attempted in Princeton. On the liomonul bar, Mr. Hewitt's giant swing was worthy of the applause which it called forth, ite also e'xcelled in tumbling. Messrs. Hewitt ami Indies gave the finest performance on the double Uapee witnessed in Princeton for a long lime.

The judges were Mr. Theodore (itierra, of the Berlin Gvninasium, Mr. William Wood and Mr. W. (J.
