SATURDAY, MAY 7, 1949 BLYTHEV1LLE 'ARK.) COURIER NEWS FACE THBHS THE SILENT FIELD Since the noise of battle died away there is hardly a sound to break the silence. The men who come here to lay wreaths on the graves never speak. Only the birds seem oblivious to the spell; and their song is a hymn of peace. But sometimes, when your heart is full, you'd swear you heard voices, the voices <?f men you fought with . . . and left behind. There's no use breaking the stillness of this silent field to answer those voices. The way to answer them is to make this the kind of world they wanted it to be. And to bring this about, we must strengthen Christianity as the chief requirement of a successful democratic way of life. For this reason, we must all support our churches and take an active part in their development and growth. The world "they" prayed for, lived for, died for, can be won. Sunday is another D-Day.
