A resident of the Near West Side, he died Monday in RushPresbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center after a long illness. "He was respected in the industry as courageous, humanistic and very professional," Tatham chairman and CEO Ralph Rydholm said. "His impact on business here was immense, and his loss will be deeply felt." Mr. Jackson joined Tatham in 1983 as an assistant account executive on Procter Gamble's Biz Bleach and quickly rose through the ranks.

He became a management supervisor in 1991 and a senior partner in 1994. He was responsible, according to a firm spokesman, for some of Procter Gamble's strongest-selling packaged goods. He helped reposition the Old Spice brand, leading it to record growth in both the fragrance and deodorant categories. He led Head Shoulders as the top selling dandruff shampoo in the country and was associated with successfully introducing Ralston Purina's Lucky Dog brand. Originally from Logan, Utah, he earned a master's degree in international from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) in Phoenix, Ariz.

"She was the nicest person I ever met in my life," said her son, Cephus Cohran.
