Section 2 Chicago Tribune, Friday, April 12, 1996 H0GAN ALMANAC OBITUARIES Helene Tuchbreiter, 77, longtime charity leader I By Kenan Heise Tribune Staff Writer Helene Tuchbreiter, 77, a community and social leader here in the 1950s and 1960s, subsequently became a prominent volunteer fundraiser for charities in Palm Beach, Fla. A resident of Palm Beach and formerly of Astor Street in Chicago, she died April 6 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Palm Beach. "She fascinated people everywhere with her zest for living, her radiant attitude and indefatigable efforts for good causes," her daughter, Sharon Queeney, said. She was married to Roy Tuchbreiter, chairman and chief executive officer of Continental Casualty Co. and Continental Assurance Co.

of Chicago, now CNA. He died in 1980. Her lifelong career of philanthropic and community service started in Chicago and included being on the women's boards of DePaul University, Henrotin Hospital and St Joseph Hospital. She also was active with the Children's Home Aid Society, Travelers Aid and the Sarah Siddons Society. After moving to Palm Beach in 1964, she continued her community involvement.

There, she helped raise money for 18 charities. 4 Mrs. Tuchbreiter graduated from the University of Colorado and was elected Phi Beta Kappa. She subsequently earned a master's degree in psychology from Northwestern University. Her daughter is her only immediate survivor.

Services for Mrs. Tuchbreiter will be held 4 p.m. April 25 in the Episcopalian Church of -the Bethesda-By-the-Sea in Palm Beach. Mary Jane Brummel Stoker, 77, stalwart of community groups By Kenan Heise Tribune Staff Writer Mary Jane Brummel Stoker, 77, a former licensed insurance broker, was active with many community organizations, including the Lyric Opera Women's Board. She was a founder and served as president in the early 1960s of its Winnetka chapter.

A resident of Wilmette and formerly of Kenilworth, she died March 30 at home. Her community involvement covered a wide range of activities, including being a board member of the Northwestern University Settlement, a community center in Chicago, and of the Junior League of Chicago, as well as being president of the Service Club of Cemeteries, Crematories Mausoleums Arlington Heights, Memory Gardens. FRITZLEN G.
