Shame! Post.

-rj nt A Anna. This notorious al still threatens to destroy Mexico. A journal in Zactitecas says that the adherents i of Santa Anna declare that on the 13ih of June next he will reiupy the Presidential chair, for the sixth time, ilis friends are believed to be the clergy the cultivators of cotton, tho agriculturalists and mechanics, with a portion of the National Guard, and all the discontented office seekers. Dissolution op tub Usivebsr. The following specimen of "hifulution" oratory wa fecently got offby Gen. James Wilson, -whig copgeessmeo, eleot -frpro NewHampi The earth groans and the air is vocal with anathemas upon this institution. Tell me not of -he dangers of a dissolution of this confederacy, of states if we attempt to stay its further spread. I am not to be deterred by any such considerations.

I 'do vjjot believe in any such dangers. But i I It would make no difference in my action at this ereat Li.No, sir' Sooner than give my consent to the extension of -numan slavery pvor-! ingo of territory nowfree, I would say, "Let the Uni be dissolved! Nayi sir, let the xnittrst dissolve! Wo intend to publish the lexers of Col. Slaves for Califoruia. The National Era says: "We are told that several slave drovers have been sent out front-. the South, and that individuals as well as companies, from that section, are taking slaves with them.

One company went through this city a few days since, with eight or ten slaves. We may state also, on good authority, that arrangements are in progress in this country for the establishment in California of a press to advocate the pro-slavery side of the Territorial question." The Era adds, that an Anti-Slavery paper will also shortly be established at Kan Francisco by Mr. Crane, recently of the Richmond Enquirer. New Coin Some of the gold Dolhr pieces have been issued, and the Tribune mentions an oversight committed by Congress in enacting the law authorising their issue. It is usual, says the Tribune, to appropriate a certain number of every valua- blo document published, lor circulation a-mong their constituents, and the gold dollar might have come under this rule but for the forgetfulness of Mr.

McKay who drew tho bill. Consistency. Tho Albany Evening Journal, hitherto the loudest in its denunciations of the dectrine that "to the victors hclong the spoils' is now urging Gen. Taylor to adopt the proscriptive policy by making an indiscriminate removal from office and declares the patronage at disposal of the President to be "the arms and ammunition of political warfare." Court Palaver. The National Intelligencer, in noticing Donnavan's Panorama of Mexico, (said to be an admirable production, by the bye,) staled that "the President and a part of his family honored this interesting exhibition with their presence, last Saturday afternoon." After stating that they remained an hour and a half, were highly pleased, in the regular lacka-deisical st le of the court minions that furnish up Albert and Victoria paragraphs for the idolators of royalty, we are further informed that "while the President was witnessing the exhibition, a number of gentlemen and some ladies waited in the street, and before the President entered his carriage, had the honor of a cordial salute by the Chief Magistrate." This sort of stuff may suit the fasfe of some newspaper writers, but we hope, fur the credit of the people, that it will not a-gree with the stomachs of many of their readers.

Bait. Sun. Slavery in Kkxtuckv. Uassius M. Clay is out flat-looted for Emancipation.

He goes for the organization in Kentucky, forthwith, of "a party based upon expediency upon right." Csssius has fire in his flint. lie says: '-With the siave party in '76 the time had not come! In the time had not come! In '98 the time had not come! And now in '49 the time has not come! "Tothe weak and craven-hearted the time for honorable achievments never comes! Men of spirit are the masters, not tho slaves of time! "Yes Kentuckians, tho time has come!" Further from Valparaiso axd Panama. A passenger in the Northerner has stawd to the N. Y. Herald, that the U.

ship Lexington had over $500,000 in gold, a portion of which sho left at Valparaiso. She soiled from Valparaiso on the 2nd of March for New York, intending to stop at Rio. Tho passenger confirms previous statements in respect to the gold. He saw himself lump weighing 19 ounces. A hospital has been establised at Panama for sick emigrants, who are to be attended free of chargf.

The sch. Rosa Sequida left Valparaiso on the 25th of November, with a cargfl of $49,000, and several passen-gers; bound to San Francisco. She landed at Gallipngos Islands, whfra the captain and passengers went on shore for water, leaving tho mate, cook, and sailors on board who immediately put to sea. The cip'a'n and passenger ren amed on the Island till the 4th of Febnjory, in a most wretched cord lion, and it was supposed that the pirates had made some Mexican port, disposed of the cargo, and escaped. SCTNiiie tons of Gold, or 4,500,000, it is reported in London, is coming home from the California gold rogion in the surveying brig Pandora.

The story created a great excitement on the London 'change. Another victim. Gen. Taylor in a letter written by his own hand granted permission to Gen. Mc Calln, the Second Auditor, to visit his wife, who was lying dangerously ill at Charlestown, Va; and while thus absent, on an errand of mercy, Mr.

Clayton, of Geo was appointed as his successor! Would Gen. Washington do such an act as this? Let us hear no more about the humanity of President Taylor. We wish to say to those who want information concerning that Medicine so much is said about, and written about also as for that matter, that we desire them to look over our columns, and find where itts sold and call there, instead of troubling us on the subject, have too much else to do of our own business to continually answer questions as to the whereabouts of Dr. Vaughns Agents. Once for all we say to our country friends do not expect us to know every thing buturn our psper every which way till your eye catches Great American Remedy then read through and at the bottom of the adver tisement you will find the Agents names.

Go and get a pamphlet and read that, and then if you are in need of one of the most wonderful panaceas of any age, go buy it; but do not expect to find it in our santum. We wish we had the secret id preparing this Lithontriptic Mixture, that is all we wish about it lw. Important Notice. "A man that will cheat a printer, will steal ft aorse." Sam irk. C. Brown, Mr. JOHN M. DAY, to Miss SARAH A.SMITH, both of Dcerfield. In Charlestown, on the morning of the 11th after an illness of one week, HTJLDAH, wife of William Rood, aged 77 years.

The deceased was peculiar for her devotion to the study of sacred things, and although the mother of a large family of children and subject to many trials, and burthencd with numerous cares, but few were so well versed in a knowledge of the scriptures The study of the Bible seemed to be to her a source of great satisfaction, and that she was extremely anxious to exemplify its precepts in her daily walk and conversation was evident to all within the circle of her acquaintance. In her death an aged partner and umerous relatives and friends have been called to mourn the departure of one near and dear to them. But although the family has thus been bereft of a kind and affectionate member and the church of a devout and praying sister, yet their loss has been infinitely her gain. And while our hearts sorrow at her separation from us, still we would not recall her. Her trials on earth are now ended, and she has gone to inherit the reward laid up for her in the society of the blessed.
