This time we want to tell of so many ihings which we have been receiving the past month (that we know you will be interested about) we hardly know where to begin. We really believe we never before had bo many attractions, in all departments of our large stock, as at the pres ent time, but it does really seem that this Spring the manufacturers have exceeded all former productions, not only in the endless variety of beautiful goods, but the standard of quality is high. It is a fact, conceded by manufacturers, jobbers and retailers, that the demand is constantly for a better class of goods. The Cheap John" style of doing things has had its day. Every first class establishment, who have a true regard for the reputation of their house, is constantly striving to offer their trade the very best of everything.

We are not unmindful of the fact, and cater for a trade that is discriminating and we know that we are met with a generous response that our trade realize and tell us every day, that when they want a good thing they are sure of finding it at our store, and invariably as low, and oftentimes lower than many of our competitors ask for goods of inferior quality. How to Business As the season foT house cleaning draws near, our lady customers are always interested in CURTAIN'S AND DRAPERIES! We have an Elegant Hue of Lace Curtains, heavy Turcoman Draperies, in the greatest possible variety A lady customer told us last week. "I have looked at curtains at three stores besides yours, and you have more, they are ever so much prettier, and there is no comparison in prices." ur course she found some curtains that were lovely." In our rambling aboat town, we had occasion to go into Clewell's Dry Goods house, one day last week, and found him and all hands flying around, waiting upon crowds of enthusiastic buyers. At first we thought, Why is all this the dull season, when everyone complains of muddy roads, slow trade, But a glance at the immense piles of all kinds of dry goods, the throng of buyers, and lively times generally, suggested anything but dullness. Clewell told us the particular rampagr just now was occasioned by the great sale of Ladies' Muslin Underwear now in progress, and to judge from the way things were moving off in this line, it was a great thing for ladies, as well as the proprietor, for we were shown quantities of elegantly made Underwear, that Clewell assured us was selling at less prices than the materials were usually sold for. AVe left with the impression that this was a great country, and pretty soon the ladies would have nothing to do in this lino at least the making of underclothes. Mr.

Clewell informed us that his purchases of this line of Ladies' goods alone exceeded S10C0 in amount, and the sales have been very much in excess of his anticipations another illustration of the fact that pur people know a good thing when they see it. As the time for holding the Spring election draws near, there is great activity manifested in the camp of our republican friends, and candidates are numerous and busy. In fact, the situ ation is becoming interesting to those who occupy a position as spectator. Three candidates are in the field for Mayor, two or more for Trustee, two for Clerk, two for Marshall, while for Street Commissioner the names of at least six aspirants are mentioned. While this state of affairs exists' our Democratic friends have apparently forgot ten that there is to be an election this Spring. Try it. For several days a report has been in circula tion to the effect that a lady in this county, re cently gave birth to four children at one time. For the benefit of the many anxious inquirers, we will state that there is not even a shadow of truth in the report. Although the people in question are the parents of a pair of twins, no children have been born to them during the past year, either singly, in pairs, triplots, or four of a kind."
