16-Evefiing News, Poft Angeles, Wednesday, August 26, Personal Injury 'suits filed with county clerk 1970 Two personal injury suits are among 23 cases filed in the Clallam County clerk's office during the past two weeks. Delbert and Bessie Hinds introduced a $5,500 suit against Pitts Logging Corp. to compensate for injuries he sustained in a collision July 7, 1969, with one of the firm's logging trucks. The Hinds were traveling north on Highway 101 when they came to a stop behind two other motorists making a left hand turn into Fairholm Campground, the suit alleges. A log truck, driven by Theodore Shearer, an employe of Fitts Logging approached the stopped cars and rear-ended the Hinds' vehicle.

The suit seeks a judgment to compensate for damage to the auto and physical and mental injury to Delbert Hinds. California residents Louis Emil Knecht and his wife brought suit against Oliver E. Smith for Injuries they suffered in a two. car crash Sept. 25,1967, one and miles west of Port Angeles.

Knecht claims Smith was for the mishap because he had been drinking and made an illegal left hand turn across a double yellow line. Knecht received a shoulder separation and his wife, who was thrown against the windshield, a deep facial laceration as a result of the accident. suit asks for $6,811.64 to make up for auto damage, hospital costs, loss of wages and general injury. In other civil filings: C. Winkler is suing Albert Fernandes for damage incurred by his logging truck 4 when he attempted to pass Fernandes while westbound on Highway 101 July 22, 1970.

The suit alleges Winkler's log trtick collided with Fernandes' ROAD CLOSED The Whiskey Bend Road in Olympic National Park will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, and Tuesday, Sept. 1, according to Superintendent S.

T. Carlson. The road will be closed these two days to accomplish the seal and chip paving portion of the construction contract. Visitors are advised to plan their travel on the Whiskey Bend road before or after the closure hours. Obit ZOLA EDWARDS Funeral services for Zola Edwards, 67, will be held Friday, Aug.

28, at 1 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home. The Rev. Elbert G. Harlow will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Angeles Memorial Park. Mrs. Edwards died Tuesday in Port Angeles. She resided with her husband Allen at 336 East Fourth St.

He survives at the family residence. She was born March 27,1903 in Dayton, Wyo. A sister, Edna Maier of Mesa, Ariz, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Gary because her creditor's claim was rejected in writing July 23, 1970, by the executor Frank B. Platt, named as defendant by the suit. Ellen Tyler brought suit against Donald M. Jagger and his wife because she claims they didn't abide by terms of an earnest money agreement toward the purchase of real estate in Port Townsend signed May 1, 1970. Terms of the earnest money agreement obligate the buyer or seller to award the other 10 per cent of the purchase cost, $48,000, in the event either fails to follow through with the transaction, the suit alleges.

The plaintiff says the Jaggers are unwilling to buy, though she is willing to sell, and therefore she is entitled to a $4,800 judgment according to terms of the agreement. Darold Lee Powell, 34, formerly principal of Quilcene High School, has been appointed principal of Stevens Junior High School. Powell is a 1959 graduate of Seattle Pacific College.

He earned his master's degree at Oregon State University in 1966, Since then he has had a year of graduate work at Seattle Pacific in school administration and this summer he took other administration courses at the University of Washington.
