Catlettsburg Tribune Judge Hager Sustains Fire Loss. The many friends of Judge Wilbur Hager will be sorry to read the following telegram from Owensboro, "The plant ot the Owensboro Inquirer, an afternoon paper, was gutted by tire this morning, entail ing a loss of $20,000. The paper was recently purchased by Judge S. W. Hager, former Democratic can didate for Governor.

The paper Is being Issued from the office of the Owensboro Dally Messenger. Judge Hager hopes to have the damage repaired in a short time." The residence lately occupied by Mr.

Skene and family Is yet vacant. Interest in the Improvement of the Big Sandy river must be kept up by the people of the valley If they ever hope to see this very greati project carried to completion. Other rivers and various harbors are pulling for appropriations every year ana we win get noining wunoui strong effort. We have as yet heard of no meetings being called In any ot the counties of this valley to send del egates to the meeting at Washing ton Cltv on January 10th. There Is but little time left in which to do this.

Not only should meetings be held and delegates appointed, bat the money necessary to pay the expenses of delecates should be raised. If any of the delegates desire to pay their own expenses, It will be all right, of course, but the people who stay at home should not expect those who go to lose both the time and money necessary to make the trip. Our Congressmen are ready to do all In their power to secure appro priations, but they are entitled to the best encouragement and strongest backing that ouf people can Mr. and Mrs. James Stump daughter, Mis Ernestine, have re- lo ne' not much turned from a visit to Mrs.
