Bob Caron; served on Enola Gay flight Associated Press DENVER Bob Caron, tailgun-ner on the Enola Gay when the B-29 bomber dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima 50 years ago this year, has died at age 75. Mr. Caron, who 'photographed the mushroom cloud, died Saturday of pneumonia at St Anthony Hospital North, his family said.

Mr. Caron once said that while the first use of an A-bomb against humans might have changed history, it did not change him. "No remorse; no bad dreams," he said in an interview. "We accomplished our mission." Mr. Caron had been assigned to test B-29s in the Army during the war when the commander of his group, Col.

Paul Tibbets, asked him to join a secret mission. Tib-bets was the pilot on the Hiroshima flight which had a crew of 14. The 5-ton "Little Bo' bomb was released over Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m. Aug. 6, 1945.

The blast killed 70,000 to 100,000 people. Mr. Caron didn't know that the mission was to drop the atomic bomb until flying to Hiroshima. After the war, he was a design engineer for Sundstrand Corp. until he retired.
