Creek, Aug. Strong, the. millionaire mine owner, was shot and killed Thursday by Grant Crumley. The shooting took place in the Newport saloon, owned by Crumley. Strong, with three frlendsTTiacr been, out night at various "gambling, saloons and at Crumley's had made a winning.

John Neville, Strong'sfather-in-law nnd Crumley got into an. altercation. Believing that his father-in-law was in danger, Strong drew a revolver. jumped behind the grabbed a shotgun and blew a hole through Sana Strong's'head. He gave himself up to police a few minutes later.

Strong has been in trouble, frequently of recent years. The day. of "his marriage, a year ago, he was sued for $200,000 for breach of promise by Miss Vance. The suit wfts compromised. A few days later Miss Nellie Lewis sued'and-''a jury awarded her $50,000.
