LONDON (AP) Cyril Harvey declared yesterday he has deer the way some people have mice. For this, he blames the Duke of Bedford. Harvey, his patience exhausted, issued an ultimatum: either the duke will keep his tnuntjacs at home, or they are all going to get shot.

"And," Harvey added, don't care whether the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals likes it or not." THE NATIVE habitat of the muntjac, or barking deer, is Ion. Their adopted habitats include the duke's country seat, Woburn Abbey, and Harvey's garden, 5 miles away, where the little beasts gorge on his spinach, tulips, roses and sweet Williams. The duke's grandfather brought over a few pairs of the deer from Asia about half a century ago. There are now 1,800 of them in Woburn Park alone, and nobody knows how many more running Jwild. "They infesting the countryside," asserted Harvey, one of Britain's best-known yawyers.

"I shoot them on sight. Nothing would please me more than for the lot to be exterminated." The Rev. Dr. R. F.

Rattray, deputy chairman of the R.S.P.C.A., said, "If anyone is troubled by deer, they should report to the society, which will catch them and return them to the herd in Woburn Park.
