Channel 9 news director Doug Crombie says he's looking for a weather person to take Rhodes' weekend duties.

There's good news after all for game-show fans. You can forget what I said last week regarding the two-week run of "Wheel of Fortune." The show, which KV0A, Channel 4, reinstated to its schedule this week, was going to be dropped again April 26 when Daylight Savings Time starts in the rest of the country. But the station had a change of heart this week, and will keep the show, but at a different time. Not only that, but it will add another game show "Joker's Wild" to its daytime schedule April 26. "Tic Tac Dough" will shift its time slot by a I ft 'i 1 Afternoon On the Tube Yoko Shimada, in her first American TV role since her performance in "Shogun," guest stars as an illegal alien forced to kill in order to save the life of her infant child on "Chicago Story" at 7 p.m.

A Lithuanian seaman makes a daring leap for treedom from a Russian six-part series will begin on Channel 9's 6:30 p.m. Sunday newscast, and that subsequent installments on the 5 and 10 p.m. weekday newscasts will look at the history of the nuclear bomb, the missiles surrounding Tucson, and the military and civil defense views. It will conclude Friday with an installment under the ominous title of "Before, During and After the Bomb." Einfrank describes the series as the most ambitious local TV news undertaking he's seen.

Phil Donahue has landed on the ABC side of the tug-of-war between that network and CBS. The talk-show host had been negotiating with both networks since NBC decided he was too expensive to keep on the "Today" show. ABC says Donahue will be a part of its new nightly news program, which will follow "ABC Nightline" starting in October. They say he will conduct topical interviews with newsmakers. Although most of the news program will be put together in New York, Donahue will do his segments in Chicago, where he'll continue with his syndicated morning show.

He's expected to end his "Today" show stint sometime in May. If you missed "Cagney Lacey" last night, blame it on another fast shuffle by network programmers. Apparently, three episodes were all CBS needed to decide the show was a clunker. They yanked it and are replacing it for three weeks with reruns of "Simon Simon." What will wind up in the 8 p.m. Thursday time slot hasn't been decided.

Erma Bombeck's "Maggie," which could be considered the biggest bomb of this television season, is coming back in the 7:30 p.m. Friday time slot on ABC starting April 30. The half-hour situation comedy was on the air for three weeks before getting the ax last fall. Changing channels. The Catholic Diocese of Tucson has decided to pull out of the rat race to put a new Tucson TV station on UHF Channel 18, and has now applied for Channel 27.

The diocese is proposing to operate a non-profit community station, which the FCC would allow on Channel 27. Channel 18 is allocated for use in the Tucson area as a commercial outlet, and there are at least two other applicants for the frequency. If the diocese gets the station, it would become the first Catholic diocese in the country to operate a TV station. KWFM kudos. In response to growing concern over drunk drivers, the management of KWFM (92.9-FM) found that below-cost drink specials advertised on some local radio stations were contributing to the problem, according to local law enforcement officials.

So KWFM has instituted a policy prohibiting the advertising of drink prices. Most bars and nightclubs have 4:25 P.M. Good Afternoon Tucson 4:30 P.M. Channel 4 is going ahead with plans to devote the 9 a.m.-to-noon block to soap operas "The Doctors," "Search for Tomorrow," "Days of Our Lives" and "Another World." "Wheel of Fortune" moves to 12:30 p.m., following "Eyewitness News." "Tic Tac Dough" moves to 1 p.m. and will be followed by "Joker's Wild." Once again, contrary to what you might hear or read, "Texas" will remain at 2 p.m. in Tucson, although it is getting a new time slot on the network.

Channel 4 is bypassing two daytime network shows reruns of "Diff'rent Strokes" and "CHiPs." The Cartwrights Pa, Adam, Hoss and Little Joe will be riding back onto Tucson TV screens starting April 26 when Channel 4 begins rerunning "Bonanza" at 4 p.m. weekdays. "Kung Fu" is moving to 3 p.m., and the "Incredible Hulk" is going to take a rest for the summer. But station officials promise it will return in the fall. Lots of program shuffling will take place at independent KZAZ, Channel 11, also starting April 26.

The 6 p.m. movies will be dropped to make way for a live pick-up of the nightly "Independent Network News" at 6:30 p.m., followed by "Saturday Night" reruns at 7 p.m. Movies will continue at 8 p.m., while "All in the Family" reruns return to counter the network stations' 10 p.m. newscasts. It will be followed by movies at 10:30 p.m.

and "Gunsmoke" at about 1 a.m. During the day, Channel 11 will have a two-hour block of children's shows beginning at 6:30 a.m. Reruns of the "Rockford Files" will go in at noon, and the 1 p.m. movies will be bumped for reruns of "The Odd Couple," "Bewitched," "Here's Lucy" and "Brady Bunch." Late afternoon programming on Channel 11 will continue to be directed toward children, and "The Muppet Show" will move to 6 p.m. Next week is "Ground Zero neir FREE wrih this rift GOLD CHAIN REPAIR (Solder) or RING SIZIHQ 14k Chains Charms from 13.99 GRAM BUAI) HABER JEWELERS I $017 E.

Paley is also board chairman of the Museum of Modern Art, which cared for the huge painting for many years before returning it to Spain last fall. Pablo Picasso, who opposed longtime Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, had specified that the painting could not be restored to his homeland until a democratic government existed there. According to embassy spokesman Dionisio Garzon, the award is his government's way of expressing its gratitude for the care of the painting and its return.
