Chicago Tribune, Tuesday, April 16, 1996 Section 2 11, OBITUARIES Carmen Reporto, retired photographer By Kenan Heise Tribune Staff Writer Carmen Reporto, 81, a retired Chicago Sun-Times photographer, was noted for his dapper, smooth style and award-winning pictures. He covered news, sports and especially society functions from 1944 to 1981. A resident of Ringwood, he died April 9 in the Wilshire Home in Lincolnshire. "He was the best," said his son Dale. "He was charming and delightful and my best friend.

He was best known for taking photographs for the paper's society column." His most famous picture was taken in 1946 and titled, "Rigor Mortis." It was of a knocked-out boxer falling to the canvass. The recipient of many awards, it has been reprinted often. Mr. Reporto started his career by sweeping a photo lab. He was then asked to airbrush photos.

When he proved he was good at that, he started taking pictures. He was hired as a photographer in 1944 by the Chicago Sun, a pre decessor of the Chicago Sun-Times. Always very popular among his co-workers, he was elected president of the Chicago Press Photographers Association in 1957. Other survivors include another son, Ronny, a daughter, Cynthia Cook; three brothers; and four grandchildren. Before his death, Mr.

Mr. Miller was a Spring Grove village trustee for 24 years. He also had been chief and a trustee of the Spring Grove Fire Protection District He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two daughters, Cindy Krausen and Peggy; two sons, Gary and Don; a sister; three brothers; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchildewn. Kyran O'Connor, 84, a Pas-sionist priest and missionary, died Saturday in Daneo Hall, an infirmary at the monastery at 5700 N.
