Texas is 3-0 in the SWC and 4-3 overall. The Red Raiders are 2-3 and 5-4. Texas Coach David McWilliams was head coach at Texas Tech last season. He returned to Texas, his alma mater, after one year with the Red Raiders.

In the third period, Texas tailback Eric Metcalf threw a 19-yard scoring pass to Tony Jones, Hagy returned a punt 33 yards for a touchdown, and Metcalf ran 27 yards for a TD. Wayne Clements also had a 20- yard field goal in the 24-poirit period. Hagy got Texas' second touchdown on a 19-yard interception return. Arkansas 38, Rice 14 HOUSTON Arkansas' James Rouse scored touchdowns on runs of one, seven and one yards, leading the Razorbacks over the Owls. The Owls had a 15-yard touchdown pass from Mark Comalander to Chris Nixon in the third quarter and trailed, 17-14, until Rouse's one-yard dive with 13:09 left.

Arkansas quarterback Greg Thomas added a nine-yard touchdown run with 7:17 left after LaSalle Harper intercepted a pass by Comalander at the Owl 44. Steve Taylor threw four touchdown passes and ran 22 yards for another score yesterday, sparking second-ranked Nebraska to a 42-7 victory over Missouri. A few minutes later, Taylor escaped an onrushing defender in the backfield, recovered his balance and threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Dana Brinson, who was wide open in the end zone.

Banderas gave the Huskers a 28-0 lead with a 40-yard touchdown reception late in the first half. The 6-foot-2, 245-pound senior capped Nebraska's scoring with a four-yard scoring reception from Blakeman in the fourth quarter.
