Daily Reporter, Saturday, July 11, 19S9 i Veteran Actors Form TV Dad-Son Police Team Edward Binns, a former Cleveland Playhouse actor and James Broderick, one-time pre medical student form the popular sleuthing team in the CBS-TV "Brenner" series seen Saturdays at 8 p.m. on Channel 8 and at 10:15 on Channel 9. Binns, senior member of the father-son police was born in Philadelphia Sept. 12, 1916, of Quaker parents. He launched his theatrical career after graduation from Penn State University in 1937.

Binns started with the Cleveland playhouse repertory company, then spent a year in Mexico City as actor-director of the Pan American Theatre, an English speaking troupe. After that he was an instructor at the University of Pennsylvania, directing stock companies. In 1942, he enlisted in the Army Air Force as a private, graduated from officers candidate school and served overseas in the China-Burma-India Theater as an armament officer. (9) Brenner, EDWARD BINNS Beginning" was the first, for which he received considerable acclaim. There followed a series of per; formances. He also enjoyed a 52- week run in a Playhouse series on radio. Before reporting to work on the Brenner series, Broderick was appearing on Broadway in "A Touch of the Poet." He had'understudied in Arthur Miller's "A the Bridge" and played the title role in the off-Broadway "Johnny Johnson." Miller cast him for the lead in the touring company of his Rudy Vallee; and in "Mr. Roberts," with Richard Arlen.

Broderick played'in filmed documentary "Mr. Lincoln," which Richard de Rbchemont released for Canadian viewing. In the Television Network daytime series," "The Secret Storm," Broderick played reporter Joe Sullivan. Broderick is married to the former Patricia Bipw. They live in a Greenwich Village apartment with their children, Martha, 8, and Janet, 3.

Saturday, Sunday Highlights Saturday 6:30 p.m. DICK CLARK Connie Francis, one of the nation's top recording stars, will be a guest. On the show set in a Winter scene, Miss Francis will sing "Frankie" and "Lipstick on Your Collar." Other guests include Anita Bryant of Don McNeill's "Breakfast Club," who'll sing "Jill There Was The Virtues and "The Guitar Boogie Shuffle" and "Shufflin 1 Dick Caruso with "I'll Tell You in This Song" and The Flamingos offering "I Only Have Eyes for You." 6:30 p.m. RECKONING Douglas, Scott Forbes, John Luptoh and Glenda Farrell co-star in the story of a policeman's career which is jeopardized by incredible repercussions resulting from a routine traffic summons in "The Edge of Truth," the premiere episode of the hour long drama program which replaces "Perry Mason." 7 p.m. PERRY PRESENTS (37) Gloria De Haven will be substituting for Teresa Brewer.

20th CENTURY "Trial at Nuremberg," the story of the Allied prosecution of Nazi World War II leaders, will be repeated. Filmed on the spot by American and Russian photographers during the historic 1945-46 proceedings, the program shows the major events of the 10 month trial and the sentencing of 21 Nazi chieftains. 5 p.m. MEET THE PRESS Gen.
