Dr. Stephen W. Gray is professor in Emory University, his wife is an instructor. The old mill they are turning into 8 home was built in 1830. Its great oak beams and stone foundations are still sound.

The couple has done most of the work of remodelling themselves although they have had the help of some of their students. The building. four miles from Decatur, housed a mill that WAS important in turning out supplies to the Confederate Army during the Civil War. NETS GOLDFISH CHICAGO (P)-Heavy summer rains flooded the concrete foundation of an abandoned building site on the north side. Neighborhood kids got some poles and went fishing in it.

The amusement of adult observers turned to amazement when John Spajda, 8, hauled in two goldfish. The best guess was that the fish had been tossed into the pit by people who won them at a nearby amusement park. We, The Women BY RUTH MILLETT Docs a wife have a right to smoke if her husband, strongly objects? That's problem posed boy A recent letter from one of my male readers who says: "I would like your advice on smoking. Am I being prudish, old-fashioned just cussed stubborn at not feeling at home since my wife, whom I have always loved for her wholesomeness, has taken up this form of pleasure? "She has known this to be the one thing that I never felt added to A woman's eveetness. However, this is probably due to a fairly strict background.

"I can see that if a woman really wants to smoke that there Ruth Millet is a time and Ruth Millet place. But must it be around little children? It grieves and hurts 110 to walk into my home of late and find it smelling like a tavern, with my wife blowing smoke curls over three baby Most of those reason for objecting to his wife's smoking do sound a bit old-fashioned. That remark about 8 "time and place to smoke." for instance, certamly don't make sense in light of today's customs. What better place; for a woman to smoke than in her own home, when she feels in need of a little relaxation? As for the children, they were born into a world where women's smoking is so commonplace as to be almost taken for granted. They'll think neither more, nor less of their mother for smoking.

As for the husband's loving his wife for her "wholesomeness" -well, smoking may not add to a woman's charm so far as some Fruit garnishes make. a ham men are concerned. But it. cer- dinner really festive. Serve minttainly doesn't detract from her ed pears, pincapple rings, glazed fundamental wholesomeness.

A Bit Unreasonable apricots, spiced peaches or pecanSo it seems to me the husband stuffed prunes with the meat. to in this case is being A bit untea- sonable- -and that is probably the real reason why his wife insists on right to smoke. After all, a grown woman is fully as canable as 8 man of deciding the right and wrong of her own hehavior. And any modern woman is jealous right. The husband would probably get further if he quit preaching 10 his wife and stuck to the one fact that mighti nfluence her: that he finds her less attractive since she tsarted to smoke.

For all her jealousy of her rights A woman will do almost anything that she is convinced will make her more attractive to the man in her life. -(NEA).
