BRIEFS PC Users Group discusses Vista The Indiana County PC Users Group meets today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Indiana County Technology Center, Hamill Road, White Township. The featured presentation will be a discussion of Microsoft Windows Vista, a new operating system scheduled for consumer release in January. Program coordinator Steve Higgins, of Sassafras Forge, will discuss the hardware requirements for running Vista and describe the information- and program-management features. ICPCUG is an organization advocating the efficient and productive use of all digital technology.

Thanksgiving luncheon offered FORD CITY People who might be spending Thanksgiving alone or who afford a Thanksgiving meal are invited to a free Thanksgiving luncheon for Armstrong County residents from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday at Kittanning Junior High School, 210 N. McKean Kittanning. There will be roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, cranberries and dessert. Armstrong School District students, staff, teachers and administrators will serve as volunteers under the direction of LuAnn Fee, the food and nutrition services director. Guests are asked to call (724) 763-5214 for reservations, so that enough food can be prepared.

Special arrangements may be available for those needing transportation. Donations from the community of pumpkin and cherry pies will be appreciated. Drop pie donations off between 8:30 and 11 a.m. at Kittanning Junior High School on Thanksgiving Day. Pie plates cannot be returned.

She was born July 26, 1937, in Clymer, the daughter of Clarence and Erma (McCune) Treese.

Mrs. Boruch was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Clymer. She was employed at Aluminum Pots and Pans in Cleveland prior to working at the Robertshaw Co. in Indiana, as well as various restaurant jobs. More recently, she was a childcare provider for 10 years.

She enjoyed painting, drawing, music, dancing and playing canasta. She loved to read books and watch movies. She married George J. Boruch on April 20, 1963. Mrs.

Boruch is survived by her husband of 43 years, and a daughter, Veronica Ann Boruch, who lived at home with her parents in Dixonville; her siblings: Joyce Wise and husband Carl, Huntsburg, Ohio; Jean Har- man and husband Richard, Portland, Janet Ackerson and husband Arthur, Columbia Station, Ohio; Jane Mona and husband Ronald, Timberlake, Ohio; Jerrold Treese and wife Jayne, Clymer; and her brother-in-law, Clyde Wheeler and wife Paula, Clymer; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, a sister, Joanne a brother, James Treese. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Resurrection in Heilwood with the Rev. Paul Lisik the celebrant. Cathryn Fillhart Cathryn Annabell Fillhart, 91, of Indiana, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was born May 18, 1915, in Canoe Township, the daughter of Carl L. and Blanche M. (Neal) Smith.

Mrs. Fillhart was a member of Graystone Presbyterian Church in Indiana. She is survived by two daughters, Phyla Mae Henry and husband John, Indiana; Sandra Kundla and husband Ken, Clymer; five grandchildren: Richard Henry and wife Julie, Indiana; Jacki Laiz and husband Carlos, Texas; Jeffrey Kundla and wife Vicki, Marion Center; Jamie Bollinger and husband Brian, Blairsville; Jonna Swansboro and husband Sean, Brush Valley; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rachel Kundla and Isabella Swansboro, and a brother, Neal Davis and wife Ruth, Glen Campbell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Fillhart in 1989, three brothers: Clark, Clay Smith and William Davis, and four sisters: Audrey Shaffer, Sara Smith, Margaret Jacoby and Martha Bennett. Services and interment will be private.

She was born Aug.

24, 1913, in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Andrew and Barbara Matuscak Yanish. She was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent, and a member of the Society and the McIntyre Senior Citizens. Mrs. Garry immigrated to America at the age of nine months, living with her family in Hannastown, Westmoreland County. She was a McIntyre resident for more than 60 years.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was also employed at Federal Laboratories. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Flack and husband Robert, Indiana; a son, Thomas J. Garry and wife Veronica, Grove City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Garry in 1959, a daughter, Lorraine Petras in 1989, and by two brothers and a sister, John Andrew and Melia Yanish.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home in Indiana. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent, with the Rev.

www.bowserminich.com Robert Gibson Robert Clyde Gibson, 79, of Indiana, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at his residence. He was born Dec. 21, 1926, in Wilkinsburg, a son of Murray and Virginia Mottern Gibson. Mr.

Gibson was a lifetime Indiana resident and a 1947 graduate of Indiana Area High School, where he played varsity basketball. A World War II veteran, he served as a Tech 5 in the 102nd Division 3059 Graves Registration Co. Following his military service, he continued to pursue his interest as an avid military historian in the research of World War II air crews and their aircraft. Known to his many friends as he was a player and manager for the Indiana Indies, which was part of the Indiana County baseball league, during the 1950s and 1960s. He was a Junior Legion baseball coach and led the Indiana VFW Junior baseball team to two winning seasons in 1975 and 1976.

He was a co-founder of the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame, where he was a past president and honored member. Mr. Gibson was a loving and supportive father, husband and grandfather who was an avid fan of sporting events, especially his hockey games. No matter the distance or location of his hockey games, he would always be there cheering him on. He was a 60-year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Indiana and an active member and usher for 20 years.

He was a member of the Allied Club of Indiana, the Indiana Moose Lodge 174, American Legion Post 141 and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1989. He was an avid bowler who bowled in two leagues for many years. During his life he was employed 11 years by The Indiana Gazette as a typesetter and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a storekeeper after 21 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Antonia Perry Gibson, whom he wed Nov. 21, 1962; a son, David Gibson, Indiana; a daughter, Georgia Yeamans and husband James, Slippery Rock; two grandchildren, Shawyn and Andy Yeamans; a brother, Donald C.

Gibson and wife Mary Kay, Indiana; two sisters, Helen VanDyke, Indiana, and Shirley Froggatt, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends the Bert McPherson family, Indiana; Pete Tyson and Diane Burke, of Collinsville, and Bill Gibson and family, Scottsdale, Ariz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Chester VanDyke and Richard Froggatt, and a very special aunt and uncle, Geneva and Howard Williams. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the John A. Lefdahl Funeral Home in Indiana, with the Rev.

Brad Lauster officiating. VFW Post 1989 will provide military rites. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. 20, 2006, at her residence. She was born April 23, 1929, in Yatesboro, the daughter of Samuel Donald and Jean Burns Enterline. She was employed by PPG, Season-All Industries and was a lunchroom supervisor at Shannock Valley Elementary School. Mrs. Shaffer was a long-standing member of Yatesboro Presbyterian Church.

She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed crocheting and was devoted to her family. She is survived by a son, Derek Shaffer and wife Emily, Monkton, two daughters, Deidre Shaffer, Philadelphia; Kimberly Shaffer, Maple Glen; a brother, Donald Enterline, Yatesboro; three sisters: Doris Jean Maffei, Rural Valley; Ida Katherine Millikin, Yatesboro; Margaret Lou Klodell, Louisville, and two grandchildren, Demi Shae Shaffer and Cheraden Johnson. Mrs. Shaffer was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Ernest Shaffer who died Oct. 18, 1999; two brothers, Samuel and William Enterline, and a sister, Mary Ann Lettie.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Funeral Home in Rural Valley, where the Rev. Ronald Long will officiate.

Interment will be in Rural Valley Cemetery. Rita Sudick Rita D. Sudick, 80, of Saltsburg, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006 at her home.

She was born April 3, 1926, in Moween, the daughter of Consiglio and Maria (DeSantis) Cavacini. She lived in Saltsburg most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Sudick was a member of St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Saltsburg and the Altar Rosary Society.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Sudick, Saltsburg; two sisters, Olga Fushofer, New Kensington; Erma M. Cavacini, Saltsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Dominick, Hugo, Anthony and Dario Cavacini. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Saltsburg.

The Altar Rosary Society will pray the rosary at the funeral home at 6 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Saltsburg, with the Rev. Peter Peretti the celebrant.

Bettye Ackerman Jaffe, a star of the popular 1960s medical series and the widow of actor Sam Jaffe, has died.

She was 82. Bettye Jaffe died at her home in Columbia on Nov. 1, four days after a stroke, said her brother Robert Ackerman. Born Feb. 28, 1924, in Walterboro, Jaffe was the oldest of four children.

She grew up in Williston, where her father was the schools superintendent. After earning a degree from Columbia College in 1945, she moved to New York City and did graduate work in theater at Columbia University. She made her film debut in the 1959 drama of and made a number of guest appear- ances on TV series, including and Jaffe met her husband, Sam, when they appeared together in a New York stage production of in 1955. The couple married in 1956. They often performed together, including on She played an anesthesiologist, and he played Dr.

David Zorba on the series, which ended in 1966. Their last joint TV performance was on Love Sam Jaffe died in 1984 at age 93. In 1998, Bettye Jaffe sold her home in Beverly Hills, and moved to Columbia to be near family members. She was diagnosed with disease a few years later, her brother said. Francisco Quiros, imprisoned for drug trafficking and implicated in the disappearance of leftists during has died from cancer, Mexican media reported Monday. Quiros, whose age was not given, died Sunday in the Central Military Hospital, where he had been receiving cancer treatment, according to the reports. He had spent the last six years in a military prison, serving a drug-trafficking sentence for protecting the now-deceased leader of the Juarez cartel, Amado Carrillo Fuentes. Authorities at the office of Defense Department and the military hospital told The Associated Press they were not authorized to release any information. Quiros was also implicated in the disappearance of leftist government opponents in the Pacific coast state of Guerrero in the 1970s.

Last year, a judge ordered Quiros arrested for the 1974 kidnapping of singer Rosendo Radilla, who disappeared after being seized by soldiers at a roadblock. A folk singer, Radilla apparently angered authorities by composing folk songs praising leftist guerrilla leader Lucio Cabanas. FBI recovers stolen Goya painting By WAYNE PARRY Associated Press Writer NEWARK, N.J. FBI agents in New Jersey have recovered a 1778 painting by famed Spanish artist Francisco de Goya that was stolen in Pennsylvania as it was being transported to an exhibition earlier this month, the agency announced Monday. The painting, with a disappeared while en route to the Solomon R.

Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan from the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio. It is estimated to be worth about $1.1 million.
