"Should your organization appear in Pasadena in spite of the fact that you are not welcome here by residents or law enforcement, you may be assured that we will insist on compliance with the law in the strictest sense and that any violations will be strictly prosecuted." The Nazis moved to El Monte in February, 1966, from Glendale after a lengthy legal battle with that city. The Nazis' relationship with El Monte city officials also has been stormy.

Over the years, the city has employed all legal means available to force the party to move. Much of the city's efforts originated after a confrontation between the Nazis and the Jewish Defense League resulted in a near riot in 1972. In July, 1975. the party was ordered by a court to correct city code violations such as improper electrical wiring used to illuminate a huge swastika sign as a result of a suit filed by the district attorney's office. The Nazis eventually complied with the city's requests, including the painting over smaller black swastikas on the outside of the building.

However, at one point, Daniel H. Stewart, then the party's acting district leader and now "on leave," appeared at a City Council meeting with about a dozen uniformed storm-troopers and threatened to "go shopping" in city businesses and scare all the customers away unless 'legal harassment of the group stopped." Crippen, then a councilman, said, "They're a detriment to the entire city. I think we should use every means and tool available to us to get them out of town." However, Kerr denied that pressures from the city played any part in the party's decision to move. "We need new facilities." he said. "This house just doesn't suit our purposes any more.

The wiring's no good. The ceiling's bad. It would take SIO.OOO to fix the place up." The headquarters also was the scene of violence last August when ousted Nazi leader Joseph C. Tomma-si, 24. was gunned down in front of the house.

Jerry Keith Jones, 18, who lived at the headquarters, was convicted of second-degree murder in Tommasi's death. He was sentenced to 300 days in county jail less time spent in jail while awaiting trial. Jones' companion, Clyde Frank Bingham, 19, was cleared of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in connection with Tommasi's death. have issued lease termination notices to its airport tenants in preparation for closing it on June 1, 1977. But Pasadena City Manager Donald Mclntyre explained to the city directors that Lockheed officials have indicated they will extend the notices if public agencies make sufficient progress toward acquisition of the airport Purchase of the airport already has run into opposition from the San Fernando Valley Homeowners Coalition, which mainly is protesting the noise from airplanes using the airport Richard Close, Sherman Oaks attorney and leader of the homeowners group, has warned the four city councils in a letter about anticipated lawsuits against noise at the airport The letter notes that new state rules to curb noise have been cited by Lockheed as one of the reasons it wants to close or sell the airport Labeling Lockheed airport as a "termendous potential liability," Close noted that $3 billion in noise lawsuits have been brought against Los Angeles International Airport An Environmental Impact Assessment Report on the airport is being prepared by Burbank with financial contributions from the other three cities.

The report is required by the Federal Aviation Administration before it will consider an application for a grant to aid in the purchase of the airport Blood Pressure Tests Available EL MONTE The El MonteSouth El Monte Safety Council will sponsor free blood pressure clinics for the public beginning Sunday, June 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at three city fire stations, 3615 Santa Anita Peck and Bryant Roads and Cogswell Road and Landsdale St After Sunday, the regular schedule for the tests will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. Blood pressure checks will be given by firemen but they will offer no diagnosis.

Those having their blood pressure taken will be given a guideline sheet containing their name, pressure reading and information about the reading. Blood pressure apparatus has been donated by the City Council and the Kiwanis Club. Condominium Federation to Establish New Branch LA PUENTE The Executive Council of Home Owners (ECHO), a federation of condominium homeowner associations, is organizing a Southern California branch to offer such services as group buying, legislative and structural advice. Glenn Webster is Southern California branch manager, at P.O. Box 2432, La Puente.

Continued from First PaRC Some members of Pasadena's Board of Gty Directors indicated they would be willing for Pasadena to go it alone if plans with the other cities fall through. The importance of the airport, which is used by several major airlines, to the Pasadena area apparently figured in the Pasadena city officials' approval of the joint powers agreement. Pasadena Mayor Robert White said Wednesday that the airport is part of the Pasadena area's economic livelihood because business and industry depend a great deal on air travel. "It might improve Pasadena's image for attracting business and industry," he explained. The mayor said it is much easier to act now to keep the airport than reinstitute it when it is closed and people decide they need it.

"It would be distressing if it (the airport) is gone, like the Red Cars," he added. "People would say, 'What a mess'." "We should be prepared to go forward without the others," Director Donald Yokaitis said at the Tuesday session. "Financing can be worked out with bonds or federal support" "If we don't take the lead, nobody else will and it will go by the board," said Director M. J. Matthews.

Director Charles McKenney main-'tained that Los Angeles and the county are the logical governments to "move ahead on this." But Yokaitis announced, "If we stand around and wait for them it may be a long time. If they want to come on board let them." Authorized under the state Airport District Act. the proposed district would be a legal entity, having a governing board with the power to levy taxes, sell revenue bonds, sue and be sued. No price has been set for purchase of the airport in Burbank which serves about 1.7 million passengers a year. However, an appraisal instigated by the Burbank council in December set a value of $35 million for only the "core" airport.
