Rickrode and family, of town, have been vacationing at Ocean City, Md. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. George Brady, New Oxford, was christened Stephen Francis in the Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday. Father Zorn who has been assisting at the local parish during Father Gergen's illness, officiated.

Grace L. Weaver And Faber Overbaugh Wed Miss Grace La France Weaver, daughter of Claud Weaver, 610 Maine McSherrystown, and the late Mary Weaver, and Faber Overbaugh, New Oxford, son of Clair Overfca-jgh, Hanover, were united in marriage July 11 at 9 a.m. in the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, McSherrystown. The Rt. Rev.

Msgr. Patrick F. McGee, pastor, performed the double-ring ceremony in a setting of white gladioli and roses. The bride wore a gown of net over satin over which she wore a coat of Chantilly lace designed with a high collar and long sleeves tapered to points over her hands. The skirt ended in a long scalloped train.

She carried a bouquet of white roses and wore a fingertip veil arranged from a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones. The bride's attendant, Mrs. Clayton Hamberger, sister of the bridegroom wore a ballerina- length gown of pale blue Chantilly lace over net and satin. She wore a fingertip veil caught from an arrangement of yellow flowers and carried a matching: bouquet. Richard Weaver, brother of the bride, served as best man.

The Rev. Snyder Alleman, Chanceford, former pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted the devotional service and preached the sermon on Sunday at the National Lutheran Home for the Aged, Washington, D. C. Pastor Alleman and wife recently attended funeral services at Chester for Mrs. Alleman's sister, Mrs.

Charles Bickel, Paradise remains undr medical treatment for a spinal ailment which makes it difficult for him to get about. His wife, formerly Miss Bernice L. Boyer, who last week rounded out 20 years of service at the York Springs post office, is the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Boyer, East Berin. He and Mrs. Boyer have the Rood wishes of many East Berlin friends.

Instead of going to a cottage at Laurel Lake, earlier plans had indicated, the National Council of Catholic Women of Paradise Church had charge of the annual family picnic for congregation family groups and invited friends. McSherry, who was 48 and a son of the late William and Sarah Wagaman McSherry, was a steward at the McSherrystown Home Association He leaves a sister, Mrs. Gene- vleve Reck, Hanover, and his stepmother, Mrs. Mary Groft McSherry, McSherrystown. A member of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, McSherrystown, he was allillated also with McSherrystown Council 2551, Knights of Columbus; the McSherrystown Home Association. and McSherrystown Lodge 720, Loyal Order of Moose.

Furneral services will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. with prayers at the J. T. Kernan Funeral home, Main street, followed by a requiem high mass in the Annunciation Church. The rector, Rt.

Rev. Msgr. Patrick F. McGee will be celebrant. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Clarence W. Krlse Clarence W. Krise, 55, husband of Mrs. Marion E. Krise, Hanover, died Tuesday evening at 6:40 o'clock at Hanover hospital where he was admitted last Tuesday.

A son of the late Henry and Mary Topper Krise, he was employed by the Chisholm company. 'Mr. Krise was a member of St. Vincent's a i Surviving in addition to his wife are: Three children, Donald E. Krise, at home; Robert Krise, stationed with the Air Force at Lake Charles, and Mrs.

Young Mrs. Ivy Myrtle Shearer Young, wife of John A. Young, died Monday at her home in York. Besides her husband, she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Niles H. Shearer, Dillsburg' R.

Gertrude W. Shearer, Mrs. F. B. Kuhns, Mrs.

N. B. Hess and F. B. Shearer, all of York.

Mrs. Young was a member of First EUB Church. Funeral services Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Warrington Meeting House, Wellsville. Interment in Warrington Meeting House Cemetery.

John V. Keller John V. Keller, about 71. Adams County native, died Monday morning at his home, Camden, N. after a frief illness.

Before moving to Camden four years ago; Mr. Keller also resided for a time in York and Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife, Rose, formerly of McSherrystown; a son. Earl Keller, Camden, and a number of grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at Camden.

Squire Qrndorff's Court Happenings Raphael Sanders, 117 Linden Hanover, was arrested on a desertion and non-support charge brought by his wife, Geraldine Sanders. He posted $500 bond for his appearance in non-support court August 21. Daniel Mummert, 542 N. Franklin Hanover, was apprehended July 15 for making an improper pass. He was given a ten-day notice.

Paul E. Hockensmith, Gettysburg R. 5, was charged with reckless 'driving July 11. He was mailed a ten- day notice. Cyprian Tilghman, Washington, D.

ws apprehended for speeding 70 miles per hour July 10. He paid a fine and costs. Scout Cub Pack To Hold Picnic A family picnic will be held Sunday at Camp Conewago, by Cub Pack 125. New Oxford. Cubs, parents and friends planning to go on the picnic are to meet at the rear of New Oxford High School at 2:30 p.m.

The program includes a father-son baseball game and other contests. A daughter was born Wednesday at the Warner Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Richard Buckley, York Springs R. 2. Lowell 11-month-old son of Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Congleton, in in a critical condition in the Carlisle Hospital, He has been under an oxygen tent part of the time. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wonders.

Russel Gardner, rural mail carrier, started back on his route Monday since being a patient in the Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. Sgt. Raymond C. Hollabaugh recently returned from Camp Pickett, vhere he attended the summer training encampment of the 79th Infantry Division. He is a member of the Active Reserves which meet regularly in Carlisle.

York Springs has 247 telephones listed in the new directory. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Tool, Lincoln University, Chester County, visited Mrs. Mary Whitcomb.

Mr. and Mrs Parvi-i BOWPF spent several days with their son, Maurice, and family. Dover, Del. Frank Robinson and family, Springfield, 111., spent a day with Mrs. William Fail.

A surprise birthday party was held for Lorin and Laverne Stough in York Springs Community Hall. David Harman, Heidlersburg, and Frank Ehlman, Biglerville, have been spending the past month at Camp Tuckahoe, near Dillsburg, where they are members of the staff. David is the bugler and Frank is in charge of the trading post. Elmo Smith suddenly became ill Friday while in Mt. Holly Springs.

Mrs. Smith and Dr. William Flickinger were called and he was brought home. He is able to be about. Mrs.

Zoe Snyder returned to her home Sunday from the Carlisle Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks. She had undergone surgery on her knee. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Taylor and children, Charlotte, William, Kenton and Philip, spent the weekend with Mrs.

Taylor's mother, Mrs. Grace Culp, Boundbrook, N. J. The group spent Sunday at the seashore. Mrs.

Taylor will remain with her mother for several and Kenton will remain for two weeks. The next meeting of the York Springs Cookerettes will be held at the home of Judy Mulkey on July 28 at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Margaret Elliott Franquist is visiting her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Harlacker and son will return home in about two weeks, but Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Harlacker will remain with their son in Florida for an indefinite time.

Robert H. Gibb, Carlisle, spent a week in Fort Pierce, with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. F.

McLaughlin, and a week in Washington, with Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Hewitt.

Miss Martha Dunn and Mrs. Paul Gelwicks are spending this week in New York City. Carlotta, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dubbs, suffered a swollen foot after being stung by a bee.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hantz. Lewistown, and Glenn Hantz, Philadelphia, have been spending their vacations with their mother, Mrs. J.

R. Hantz, and family. Mrs. Lewis Elliot, of York Springs, spent a week with her cousins, Misses Englar, Taneytown. York Springs was awarded a forfeit from New Kingston in its scheduled Bi-County Baseball League game Monday evening.

S. Marine Corps. He is an employe of the York Stone and Supply Company. The couple has returned from a wedding trip to New England is living at Williams Grove Park. Truck Driver Is Killed Near Here John L.

Hall, 28-year-old Philadelphia beer truck driver, WM fatally Injured about 6 o'clock Tuesday evening when hlo tractor-trailer ran off the road one- fourth mile eaat of New Oxford on the Lincoln Highway and plunged Into an eight-foot ditch. State police said Hall apparently either fell asleep or was overcome by heat as he drove the truck, owned by the Contract Carrier Lines, of Philadelphia, east on the highway. Keefer, secretary, that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Berwick Township School District will be held Tuesday, August 11, at 8:30 o'clock p.m., at New Oxford High School Building, at which time the Board of School Directors intends to pass a resolution providing for the levy and collection of a tax for general school purposes on admissions to within Berwick Township. The said levy is necessary in the judgment of the directors by reason of the fact that the current revenues are insufficient to pay operating expenses of the School District. It is estimated that the revenue from this proposed tax will amount to $1,500.00 or more per year. The board's action follows close upon the opening to the Lincoln Speedway in the Pigeon Hills of Berwick Twp. two weeks ago.

The maximum tax of 10 per cent allowed by state law is contemplated by the township school directors. Over 8,000 A Speedway Auto Races A crowd estimated at more than 8,000 attended the second stock car races Friday evening on the Lincoln Speedway, near Abbottstown. Over 7,000 attended the first races there Friday aweek. Walt Ragan, Rising Sun, driver of car 65, won the feature 25- lap race after capturing the first 10-lap heat. Vic Norman, Elizabeth town, won jthe second 10-lap heat in car 22 while Jimmy Smith, Aberdeen, took the third 10-lap heat in car 35.

The consolation race was won by Jerry Snelbaker, York, driver of car 75, Ragan was consolatioon winner at the previous races. Mel. Kreiser, Annville, won the main event on that occasion. Although there were a number of minor crackups, no one was injured. Another race program is scheduled for this Friday evening.

He recevied his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1948; master of arts in 1950 and his doctor of philosophy degree from Columbia in 1951.
