Jimmy Mack" worked for the Dupont Company for 28 TODAY'S OBITUARIES Larraine Elizabeth Smith Larraine Elizabeth Smith, of Bridgeville, DE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, DE. She was 89.

Larraine was born on April 15, 1919 '1 Highland, Jeannie A. Beldyk-Byers Retired Educator Mrs. Jeannie A. Beldyk-Byers, age 58, of Bear, DE, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs.

Beldyk-Byers was a Delaware native, born in Wilmington on November 20, Howard J. Mason Howard J. Mason, age 81, of Seaford, DE died on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. Howard was the son of the late C. H.

"King" Mason and Leona Greise Mason. Mr. Mason retired from the Dupont Company in 1986 after 30 years. He was an Army veteran of WW II and Korea; he was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and Gideons International.

His wife Helen Hastings Ma- 1 1 1- 11 1 Kl TI Went home to be with his Lord April 1, 2009. He was 94 years old. Ed was born in Manhattan, NY, but raised in Livingston, NJ. He was a 1st Lt. in the U.S.

Army Engineering Corps and served in the South Pacific. He received a Bachelor's degree from Utah State and his Master's in Civil Engineering from Princeton. He began working at DuPont in Seaford, DE moving to the Louviers site until nis retirement in 1978. He enjoyed his summer home in Bethany Beach. He was an avid gardener and loved to travel, ski, hikc.anything outdoors.

He was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church. In 1973 he met and married Margaret Boyes Clayton. Margaret passed away in 2004. Ed is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara Lamminan and her husband Forrest, of Chicago, IL, and their daughter Kirstin Osgood of Illinois, and Margaret Jenkins and her husband, David, of Wilmington, DE and their children Richard, Mathew and Ashley Sabo; son, Dr. J.

Wesley Clayton and his wife, Maggie, of Newark and their children, Sarah Coakley, Rachel Nimon and Laura, great-grandson, Elijah Nimon; and cousins. Miss Christine Herman and Mrs. Jane Burgess. Special thanks to the staff of Stonegates and Delaware Hospice who made his last weeks sopleasant. The funeral service will be held on Saturday April 4, at 2 pm, at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark, 308 Possum Park Newark, DE, 19711.

Jackson "Monty" Age 66, a native of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Monty was the beloved son of the late Roland and Josephine Jackson. He attended Newark High School where he co-Captained the YellowJackets football team and received his Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Delaware.

A history buff through and through, he taught middle school Social Studies and History in Cecil County, Maryland until his retirement and delighted in seeing the successes achieved by nis former students. Monty also enjoyed his part-time jobs at the Supermarket and the Delaware Park Race Track. Monty was a lifelong blood donor, a "Quiet Hero" who gave the gift of life to many through his fenerous platelet donorship. lonty enjoyed spending time at his Fenwick Island Deach house with family and friends. He spent many hours "puttering" about on home projects, painting, and gardening.

He was an avid reader, always ensuring family and friends were kept up-to-date on the latest current events and sports headlines. His Brittany Spaniel, Lily, was always by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Eleanor; his children and their spouses: Debbie and Dave Fogg; Diana and Seth Weingarten; and Dave and Heather Schaen. He was the proud "Nunu" to grandchildren Laura, Jonathan, and Emily Fogg; Kaeli, Colby, and Shae Weingarten: and Kristin, Jennifer, and Morgan Schaen. The family would like to thank Dr.

Gerald Francis Aunet, Sr, age 72, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Superior, WI, died on March 31, 2009 at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Prior to college, he served in the U.S. Army. He earned a BS in math, chemistry, and physics at the University of Wisconsin, Superior and a MS in chemistry at the University of South Dakota. He retired from the textile fibers department of the DuPont Company as a Research Fellow after a 32 year career.

Although Jerry had an honored career, he was most proud of his family. A sports fan who enjoyed coaching ice hockey in the 1970s and 80s, he continued to support his children and grandchildren in their sports and other activities. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Aunet, his parents, Leonard and Florence Aunet, and brother, Ron Aunet. He is survived by his wife Cathy; son, Jerry Jr. and his wife Valerie of Landen-berg, PA; son, Jon and his wife Vickie of Hockessin, DE; daughter, Jenny of Wilmington, DE; grandchildren, Jerry III, Mandie, Matt, Brittany, and Jordan Aunet; sister, Janice Hogan; brothers, Dan, Doug, Rick, and Bruce Aunet, all of Wisconsin, and a large extended family.

Duncan Mrs. Shirley A. Duncan, age 80, of Newark, DE, died on Monday, March 30, 2009, at Christiana Hospital. Born on August 23, 1928, Mrs. Duncan was a daughter of the late William M.

Ander son and I Wetherhold Anderson. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she greatly en- i loved both cooking and! gardening. She was also eirmloved for years school bus attendant with the Christina School District. Active in her community, Mrs. Duncan was a past president, a past vice president, and a Life Member of the Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a past officer of the Brookside Community Civic Association, and an active member of Love of Christ Church in Bear.

In her leisure hours, she collected bears and lighthouses. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she delighted most of all in spending time with her beloved family, her many friends, and her cat, KC. Prior to her retirement, she taught for one year at Southern Elementary in Bear. She was active in the leadership of a variety of professional associations, including the Delaware State Education Association, the Colonial Education Association, where she was a past vice-president and past president, and the Delaware State Education Association-Retired, where she recently served as secretary of the organization. She was also an active member of St. Paul's R.C.

Church in Delaware City, serving as both a lector and a Eucharistic Minister. Following her retirement, Mrs. Beldyk-Byers delighted in traveling with her beloved husband of 16 years, James J. Byers. Together they spent 6 months of each year in Alaska, where they greatly enjoyed camping, salmon fishing, kayaking, and Whitewater rafting.

In her leisure hours, she also enjoyed bowling, reading, quilting, and listening to the music of various church choirs. In addition to her husband, James, she is survived by her brothers, Richard M. Beldyk and wife, Marie, of Bear, DE; and Alan W. Beldyk and wife, Karen, of Newark, DE; granddaughter, April Roberts; great granddaughter, Ashley Roberts; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
