Beloved Helen R. Garton Age 83, residing at the Man-orCare Assisted Living Center in Wilmington, DE, passed away Saturdav, August 31, 2002. Mrs.

Garton was a member of St. Elizabeth parish and St. Anthony parish in Wilmington. She was predeceased by her i in 1QC7. har Gary Eugene Burditt Gary Eugene Burditt, age 43 of Spotsylvania, VA died Sunday, September 1, 2002 at his home.

Mr. Burton was employed by General Products for 26 years. He was an avid hunter, out-doorsman, Hariey rider and member of the Ridge Road Hunt Club. Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly J. Burditt whom he married February 14, 2002; and 3 stepchildren, Stephanie Rod- 3ers, Sarah Samulevich and eremy Rodgers, all of Spotsylvania, VA.

His mother and stepfather, Shirley A. and Jim Keiser of Hopewell, VA; father and stepmother, M. Eugene and Joan Burditt of Farmington, DE; stepsister, Brenda Burditt of San Diego, CA; 2 stepbrothers, Barry Carter of Herndon, VA, Brian Carter of Farmington, DE; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends also survive him. A funeral will be held at 10 am today, September 5 at the MUL-LINS THOMPSON FUNERAL SERVICE, Spotsylvania Chapel followed by burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Biden, Jr. Mr. Biden was born November 13, 1915 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Joseph H. Biden and the former Mary Elizabeth Robinette. While he was still a boy, his family moved to Wilmington where he attended St.

Paul's School and Wilmington High School before graduating from St. Thomas Academy in Scranton, PA, where the family was then residing. In 1941, Mr. Biden, while employed as a sales representative for Amoco Oil Company in Harrisburg, PA, married Jean Finnegan of Scranton, PA. During World War II, Mr.

Biden was an executive, in Boston, MA, of the war industry that supplied "plastic a special waterproof sealant applied to all U.S. merchant-marine ships built during the war. Following the war, he was co-owner of an airport and crop-dusting service on Long Island, NY. In 1953, he moved with his family to the Wilmington suburb of Mayfield in Claymont, DE and returned to sales as manager for several Wilmington automobile agencies. He then spent 15 years working in real estate condominium sales in New Castle County and in Rehoboth Beach for the Patterson-Schwartz agency.

Throughout his working life and during his Mr. Biden shared with his wife, his 3 sons and daughter, his 10 grandchildren and his 3 great grandchildren a strong orientation to family life ana personal integrity. He valued his reputation as an honorable man and as a family man, and with his wife he conveyed his values consistently to his children and their children. Both at home and in the business world, his word was his bond and he was proud of that. Mr.

Biden is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Finnegan Biden; and by his oldest son, U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden, JR and his wife, Jill Jacobs Biden and their 3 children, Joseph R. Biden, III, Ashley Blazer Biden and R. Hunter Biden of Wilmington and his wife, Kathleen and their 3 children, Naomi, Finnegan and Maisy; by his daughter, Valerie Biden Owens of Kennett Square, PA and her husband, John T.

Owens and their daughters, Valerie James Owens and Catherine Eugenia Owens and their son, Cuffe Biden Owens; and by his 2 younger sons, James Brian Biden of Merion Station, PA and his wife, Sara Jones Biden and their 3 children, James Brian Biden, Caroline Nicole Biden and Nicholas Colman Biden; and Francis W. Angelo was employed at the Port of Wilmington by Volkswagen of America as a class A painter and was a member of Teamsters' Local 326. A 1984 graduate of Del-castle High School, he was an avid sportsman and Civil War history buff.

His favorite pastime was touring Historic Civil War battlefields and museums. Angelo also enjoyed reading, playing drums, listening to his favorite music by the Beetles and hunting with his brother, friends and nis faithful and loyal beagles, Brandy, Dixie and Shelby. Angelo was a caring, loving and sensitive husband, son and brother, and will be forever and sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Kristin (Brady) Flocco; his parents, Umberto and Mary-Lou (Simpson) Flocco; his brother, Bert Jr. who was his companion and friend; his grandfather and namesake, Angelo Flocco, age 92 who resides in Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy; his grandfather, John J.

Gallaher, MD A native of TN and longtime Wilmington, DE resident died Monday, September 2, 2002. Born July 23, 1917 in La Fol-lette, TN, Doctor Gallaher from the University of ennessee and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in 1942. Upon graduation, Dr.

Gallaher entered the U.S. Army Medical Corps and became a captain. He served with distinction earning the Bronze Star for bravery and the Purple Heart. Dr. Gallaher landed on Utah Beach on D-Day and participated in the 50th D-Day Anniversary in France in 1992.

After the war, Dr. Gallaher completed his medical residency at the New York University Hospital, the Margaret Hague Hospital in NJ and the Bridgeport Hospital in CT. He came to Wilmington in the early 1950s as an OBGYN and obtained his board certification. He was an active member of the Medical Society of Delaware, the American College of OBGYN, and the International College of Surgeons. Bill kept close ties to his family in TN and was a director of the People's National Bank of La Follette, a bank founded by his father.

He retired from active medical practice in 1990 and traveled much of the world. Bill and his wife, Irene divided their time together between Bethany Beach, DE and Green Valley, AZ. While in AZ, Dr. Gallaher joined the Elks Club. Preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis D.

Gallaher, MD; parents, George Browder and Grace Martin Gallaher; and his sister, Sarah Gallaher Williams. Survivors include nephews, Browder G. Williams and Maurice K. Williams, nieces, Theresa Beauchamp and Sarah E. Loo-ney; stepsons, Scott Jeffrey H.

Harris Mrs. Hazel M. Harris, age 85 of New Castle, DE, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at her daughter's home in New Castle. Born in Burr Hill, VA, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Samuel J.

and Mary R. (Adams) Eaton. She had been a waitress for over 30 years at area restaurants including Ibach's Steak- house in Wilmington. Mrs. Harris enjoyed reading, walking, listening to country music, travelling, and playing cards with friends.

Her husband, Curtis P. Harris, died August 20, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michele E. Pacheco, in November 2001. She is survived by her children, Patricia M.

Wadsley of Middletown, Phyllis M. Fox of Millsboro, James W. Harris of Millsboro, Curtis M. Harris of Newark, Kathleen C. Urban of New Castle and Sandra L.

Clopp, age 90 died Monday, September 2, 2002 in the Franciscan Care Center at Brackenville, Hockessin, DE, her residence since 1 995.

Marian was born in NJ, the daughter of the late Raymond and Faye Graff of Boyertown, PA. Her father was the owner of his own plumbing supply company. She grew up in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Beaver College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and also graduated from the Moore College of Art with a specialty degree in textiles and design. She was very talented in designing prints and designs, as well as in many forms of painting. She owned her own fabric design business in the 1940s.

Marian and her late husband, William J. Clopp, moved to Wilmington, DE in 1953 when he was transferred with the DuPont Company to the Stine Lab location. Marian was previously active in church, community and Masonic activities. Mr. Clopp died in 1984.

She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond M. Groff of Boyertown, PA. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Michael Mclntyre of Lewes, DE; and her granddaughter, Tara Godek of Newark, DE. Services will be private. Arrangements by DOHERTY FUNERAL HOMES www.dohertyfh.com Claire L. (Peacock) Davies Age 81 of Lewes, DE died Wednesday, September 4, 2002 at the Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Mrs. Davies was employed by the Beebe Medical Center for 38 years and was a nursing supervisor at the time of her retirement in 1986. She later volunteered for another 10 years at the hospital.

In 1942, she obtained her nursing degree from St. Mary's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl L.

Davies in 1991 and her brother, Joseph M. Peacock in 2002. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Friday, September 6, 2002 at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Delaware Rt.1 at Five Points, Lewes, where friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.

He was born in Newark on February 29, 1912, the son of the late William and Mabel Garrett Aiken.

Mr. Aiken was employed as a carpenter by the University of Delaware for 30 years, and was a combat veteran, serving in the European Theatre during the Second World War. In addition to his skills as a carpenter, he loved farming and was an avid hunter. James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary E. McDowell Aiken; a daughter, Jane Wright and her husband, Wayne of Newark; 2 sisters, Dorothy Jezyk of Newark and Elizabeth Macy of Poquoson, VA; and 2 grandchildren MaryBeth ana James Wright, both of Newark.

There will be a funeral service on Thursday, September 5 at 2 pm at the R.T. FOARD AND JONES FUNERAL HOME, 122 W. Main Newark. Friends may call Wednesday evening September 4 from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.

He was bom in-Canton, GA and was a graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was employed by the DuPont Company in the engineering department, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Aldersgate Methodist Church and the Delaware RC Club.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rachel Dunsmore Anderson; a son, Barry Anderson and his wife, Nancy of Atlanta, GA and their children, David and Zachary; and a daughter, Lynn Jester and her husband, Bruce of Hockessin and their children, Eric and Lauren.
