YASIK FUNERAL HOME Mary V. Barry Of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2008, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Sophie Bryner and was employed as an office manager at Hanby's Office Furniture. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Dupont Country Club, and the Mancus Foundation.

She was preceded hi death by her first husband, William Verderamo who was killed on D-Day, and her second husband, Joseph V. Barry who died 2001. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Helen McGrory of Wilmington. November 28 at the home of her daughter Laura Enterline MacKelcan of Avondale, PA. She was 75. Gay was born in Quirigua, Guatemala to Col. Thomas MacDonough Cloward and Ann Gillespie Cloward.

At that time, her father was a supervisor for the United Fruit Company. Both preceded her in death. Her, brother, Tustin, died as a child. She was a graduate of the National Cathedral School in Washington, DC and the University of Delaware where she received a degree in education. She also received her Masters Degree in Business Administration.

In addition to raising 4 children, Gay devoted her life to the education of others. She was an elementary school teacher, the director of a camp for handicapped youths and program director for St. Anthony's Senior Center in Wilmington. She was recently inducted into the "Quarter Century Club" for her years of service as a Senior Guide at Winterthur Museum and Country Estate. A life long learner, Gay studied to become a "specialist" in base metals, prints and carpets.

Walter L. Barnes Of Lewes, DE, passed away on November 27, 2008. He was 70 years old. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Walter H. and Mildred Greenlee Barnes.

A 1960 grad uate ot renn Mate universit Walt taught history at Central Bucks High School in PA before entering the publishing busi ness. From 1965-1982 he worked for Holt Rine-hart and Winston the last seven those years he served as Divisional Sales Manager. He was the National Sales Manager of Random House School Division from 1985-1988. He also served as National Sales Manager for Globe Fearon. From 1993 until his retirement in 2000, he was an Independent Sales Representative.

Walt and his family were early settlers in Columbia living in the neighborhood of Longfellow. Wait was a founding member of the Longfellow Friends of the Traditional Fourth Parade. He was active in the Harpers Choice Community Association and chaired the Social Committee for several years. Walt had a quick wit and was a legendary story teller. He was a volunteer for the Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department in Clarksville, MD from 1969-1975.

During his tenure, he served in the capacities of Captain and Deputy Chief, receiving commendations for his dedication and extraordinary performance during flood emergencies associated with Hurricane Agnes in 1972. One of Walt's passions was the sea. He held a Certificate of Seamanship from the United States Power Squadron and enjoyed motorboat outings with friends and exploring the Chesapeake Bay. Walter is survived by 2 daughters, Dana L. Barnes, and son-in-law Charlie Hendee, of Cape May Court House, NJ; and Paige M.B.

A 1985 Salesianum graduate, Mark went on to work for Delmarva Power. During the majority of his 20 year career, Mark took tremen dous pride working as a first Class Lineman with the com pany. Dautel Age 89, of Wilmington, DE, died peacefully at Brandy-wine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on November 16, 2008. "Uncle Jack" never married but was a family man who cared for his parents, Fred Sr. and Catharine until they died. Jack attended Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener) and graduated from the University of Delaware after his active military duty. During World War II, he achieved the rank of sergeant in the Army, serving from was stationed in Funii, Bora Bora with the 198th Coast Artillery Regiment (anti aircraft).

Jack worked first at the Chrysler Company and later at the Boeing- Vertol Company. He worked in the calibrations lab, which aided the assembly of Chinook CH-47 helicopters. He enjoyed fishing ana boating on the Chesapeake Bay with his father, Fred, brothers Dick, and his nephew, Rich. His brothers have predeceased him, as well as, his sister-in-law, Bettie V. Dautel.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Elizabeth S. Dautel, his niece, Kandie D. Semmelman (Andy); his nephews, Richard W. Dautel (Ka-thy), R. Scott Dautel (Sharise) and their families.

He is also survived by cousins, William Howell (Jane) in New Jersey and Catherine Glyer in California. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am, on Monday, December 15, at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Con cord Pike, Wilmington. Burial will be private. Born in Henderson County, Kentucky on October 4, 1910, the daughter of Richard S. and Helen Jennings, Pans grew up on a farm with Lr sisters ieiie, Lucille, Hallie, and Ruth and a m. brother Ri- j1rxy chard, all of SjLx in death. After Graduat ing from Ni- agara High School in 1929, she obtained her teaching certificate from Western Kentucky Teachers College and taught in the Henderson County schools during the mid to late thirties.

On February 14, 1937, she married her high school sweetheart, Donald R. Duncan, also from Henderson County. They were married for 61 wonderful years until Don's death in 1998. Pansy was the proud mother of twin sons, Donald K. and Richard (Dick) J.

Duncan and the g-andmother of Beth Ellen uncan and Abby Sue Middle-ton. Her son Dick died in an automobile accident in 1962. Pansy's husband Don worked for the G. C. Murphy a variety store chain, which pro- vided her the opportunity to live in several cities in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Their adopted home was Parkersburg, West Virginia where they lived for over 40 years. In 2000, she moved to Wilmington to be near her family and resided at The Methodist Country House. In addition to being a full time mother, Pansy was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, PEO, the First Methodist Church of Parkersburg, and many civic organizations. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling around the country seeing old friends and making new ones. Throughout her life she had a wonderful smile, positive outlook, and a kind word for everyone she met.

She will be deeply missed byall who had the privilege uf kiiuwing iiel. She is survived by her son Don, his wife Betty and son Stephen Shepard, who live in Wilmington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flester "Dick" Age 76, of Bear, DE, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 4, 2008, surrounded by his family. Born in Salisbury, MD, Dick was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Carow) flester. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army Intelligence as a Battle Analyst. He was a past partner of Abco Office Products, and retired in 1991 as Director of Hanby's Commercial Division after 28 years.

Dick was past president of R. M. Flester, Delaware Valley Office Products Association, Five Points Junior Baseball and New Castle County Babe Ruth Baseball. Throughout his life Dick was an active sportsman and played tennis, football and baseball and even tried out for the Boston Red Sox. During the 1960's he coached the Wilmington Clippers, a professional Football team and later, Flester's Jesters, a pro basketball comedy team.

He was also manager of several fast pitch Softball teams and manager of Babe Ruth Baseball teams. An avid fan of the University of Delaware sports, he had been a season ticket holder since 1980. A seasoned boater, his boat, the Dickie Jack, was well known on the Chesapeake Bay. He was past treasurer of Harbor North Yacht Club. Dick and his family spent summers on the Bohemia River and winters at Inner Harbor.

He was a devoted fan of Neil Diamond and his concerts. In addition to his parents, Dick was also predeceased by his brother, Wayne Flester. Dick will be missed by his wife, Jacqueline B. (Hedrick) Flester; his daughters, Sharen K. Simns of Rockhall, MD and Jody B.

Val true learner ed one giauuai-ii ed from PSf auFont High School in 1947, then continuing onto West Chester University be ginning her teaching career at Wilmington Manor Elementary in 1952. She was a member of the National Education Association and the Delaware State Education Association, but was most proud of her membership in the Delta Kappa Gamma, honor society for women educators. Val retired in 1991 after 38 years of teaching 4th grade in the Alfred I.

School District and finally in the Brandywine School District. Valentine cherished her 49 years of marriage to her loving husband, Patrick A. Cusanelli. Together they shared their lives with their beautiful daughter, Denise A. Nuss and son-in-law, Troy A.

Nuss and their much beloved step-granddaughter. Miranda and Nelia Nuss. Val is preceded in death by her sister, An-gie Morris and brother Nick Sotis, but still treasured the love of his family; Theresa "Patti" Sotis and their children's families. Val was also blessed to be surrounded by the love of Patrick's five sisters and all their wonderful families. Through the years, Val enjoyed spending time with her family down at the shore in Wildwood, NJ, reading, shopping, watching her soap operas, and nothing ever came Detween her and her Nnrtp Mamp picrhirxr Irish football team.

Ken lived life to the fullest and was happiest living life on the edge. Ken owes his career in microwave telecom to his Uncle Tabby, who launched Ken's interest in electronics at a very young age. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Karl. He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Janey, and her daughter, Laura Barba, whom he raised from a pup; his sons, Karl Kristopher and Kris' wife Amy, Andrew, and his 3 Yorkies, Nicky, Penny and Joey. Ken was fascinated with the moon and his final wish was being sent to the moon where his ashes will remain for eternity.

Every time we see the moon we can all remember Ken, his fun-loving spirit and his "get 'er done" mantra.
