FOUR SECTION A THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 1968 Rocky Employs Expert As Campaign Adviser 1968 New York Times News Service ALBANY, N.Y., Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller has hired John Emmet Hughes, the author and national political strategist, to run an unannounced campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, sources close to the governor said Tuesday. One of the governor's closest advisers said the hiring of Hughes, who has worked in the past as a writer and political tactician for former President Eisenhower and for Rockefeller, meant that the governor was seeking to place a "renewed accent on his availability" for the nomination: Hughes' new posier tion was described by the adviser as Rockefeller's "personal chief of staff" for the campaign. On March 21, Rockefeller said he would not be an active candidate for the nomination, but that he would accept a draft if one developed between now and the Republican national convention in Miami Aug.

5. As further evidence that Rockefeller has decided to seek the nomination, although indirectly and without entering any presidential primary elections, sources close to him cited his announcement Tuesday that, in addition to Hughes, the governor was also hiring three othexperts on national and international affairs. Record-breaking rains piled the hail stones two feet deep in Abilene, in West Texas, and sent numerous streams to flood stage. Hail collapsed the roof of a Salvation Army store in Abilene when the violent storm struck the city late Monday and early Tuesday. The ice was stacked in streets and driveways, underpasses were flooded and at one time the emergency room at Hendrick Memorial Hospital in the north part of the city was flooded.

The high for Tucson this afternoon is expected to be between 78 and 83, and the low 50 to 55. The weatherman predicts thundershowers today, tonight, and tomorrow. Tucson is already ahead in its amount of rainfall, with the precipitation to date being 3.17 inches. The normal rainfall for this date is 2.29 inches. But hay fever can bother some of us in the spring and, if it does, the weather is mostly responsible. The most severe stages of hay fever usually develop when the temperatures are unusually low for the season. If we have a cold spring, then those who are afflicted may suffer more than during a warm April.

High winds that come with changing weather help to cause an increase in allergic reaction to pollen in the air which biometeorologists call "aeroallergens." Medical statistics show that if you suffer from hay fever any time of the year you are unfortunately in a group that comprises 15 per cent of the population of the United States. If you have hay fever in the spring you probably will be glad when the weather brings rain, because rain will bring you some relief.
