Brown Age 92, a longtime resident of Claymont, and most recently of the Highfield Masonic Ho me passed away on Friday, November 4, 2005. George was born June 5, 1913 in Bayonne, NJ. He moved to Claymont in 1921, was a 1933 graduate of Claymont High School, and was educated at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. He married Evelyn B. Hoopes in 1939 and moved to Claymont Heights.

He was elected to first term to the Claymont School Board in 1952 and later served as its president. George was especially proud to be a part of the schools desegregation. 1 year before it put forth by the Supreme Court in 1953. He started his work career at Texas Oil Co. in 1934, but later was employed the DuPont Co.

at the Experimental Station as a buyer 1939 until his retirement in 1976. George was a member of Oriental Masonic Lodge George became coowner with his sons and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Brown, of Scott Trailer Sales in 1977 and operated it until 1991. George served his country during WWII as a proud member of the US Navy from 1942-1945. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn B. Brown.

George is survived by his children, Rollie and his wife, Colleen, Richard and his wife, Joanne, and Diane and her husband, Richard; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Friends may visit from 10-11 am on Tuesday, November 8, in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, N. Dupont New Castle, where a Masonic service will be held at 10:30 am and the funeral service will begin at 11. Burial will be in the adjoining park. DeSantis, age away Friday morning, November 4, 2005, at his home. Mr. DeSantis was born in Hazelton, PA February 3, 1934, son of the late Volta and Maria DeSantis. He was a graduate of Wilmington High School, where he excelled at athletics, especially football.

Mr. DeSantis was a self-employed bricklayer and masonry contractor for many years until his retirement in 1997. He enjoyed reading, Italian history and spending time with his friends. Mr. DeSantis is survived by his children, Robert DeSantis, Linda DeSantis and Melanie Smolka; his sister, Joyce Smith; and hiss nieces, and nephew, Donna Debra Murphy, Denise Alessandrini and Kevin Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 4th St. Bancroft Wilmington, on Monday morning, November 7, at 11 am. Entombment will follow in the crypt of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Cathedral Cemetery. Mary Synczyszyn DeShong Age 87 of Leesburg, VA died on Thursday, November 3, 2005, in VA. Mrs. DeShong, lived in Wilmington, 85 years. She retired in 1985 from the State of Delaware after 25 years of service. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving DeShong, U.S.

Army, who was killed in Germany in WWII. She loved spending time with children and many fore years was a foster parent. She also enjoyed shopping and driving. Survivors include her children, James Charlestown, Dill, Elkton, MD, Terry T. MD, Wayne. E.

Griffith of Ft Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Wilmington, DE, went to' be with the Lord in the church triumphant on October 27, 2005.

She was born November 15, 1909 in Wilmington. Ruth was a lifelong active member and ordained deacon of Hanover Presbyterian Church, where she started the church nursery in 1930. She sang in the choir for many years and was loved by many. She will be missed, especially by her son, C. Richard, and his wife, Patricia, along with 2 nieces, who were faithful caregivers while Ruth was in Wilmington.

She was predeceased by husband of 63. years, Cornwell Jennings Griffith, on August 16, 1992; and sons, C. Jay on December 28, 1994 and R. Edmund on June 16, 1988. Besides her beloved son, C.

Jason liked working outdoors and had worked on a farm in Hartly. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also liked to keep busy with many hobbies including working on cars and computers. Jason also loved to travel. He will be sadly missed and was loved by many.

He is survived by his parents, Steven and Nancy Simmons of Hartly, DE; 2 sisters, June Simmons at home, and Michelle Simmons his special niece and nephew, Breah and Zac, also of TN; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Curtis E. Harper Age 68 of Millsboro, DE died Friday, November 4, 2005, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. He was born in Frankford, DE to the late George C. and Bessie MaGee Harper on June 15, 1937. Harper was the of Harper's Gun Supply in Millsboro for the past 35 years, retired from Delmarva Power and Light in 1993 as a relay technician after years of service, was a bus contractor for the Indian River School District from 1969-1993, held his private air pilot's license from 1975-1985 and previously served in the Merchant Marines ed the Bayshore Community for 4 years.

Mr. Harper attendChurch in Gumboro since 1991. He was past master of Doric Masonic Lodge Millville, was grand tiler for the Masonic Grand Staff of Delaware in 1973, member of Nur Temple Shrine, New Castle, a member and member of Ducks Unlimited, life member of the NRA, member of Delaware Wildlife Habitat, past Central Chapter and was an president of the AFS. Sussex avid sportsman and outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley Ann McCabe Harper; 3 children, Jodie Daudt and her husband, Paul, of Seaford, DE, Curtis E.

Frances M. Kreider Age 67 of Newark, DE passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 3, 2005. Born in WV, Ms. Kreider was the daughter of the late Delbert James sand Clara (Woomer) Martin. was payroll supervisor for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, retiring in 1985 after more than 20 years of service.

Her hobbies included golf, bowling and boating. She will be missed by her daughters, Debbie Bader and her husband, Matthew, of Bear and Kreider of Newark; her son, Keith Kreider of Newark; her brother, Willard Martin of Wilmington; Melissa 3 grandchildren, Erica, and Jamie; and her longtime companion, Robert Feeney. Maurer, age 86, beloved father and grandfather, died Friday, November 4, 2005, at home with his family. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he graduated from North Catholic High School and served in the Navy as chief petty officer during World War II. He was a stenographer for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at Yalta, Potsdam and Teheran Conferences. He retired from the Federal Court Wilmington after 38 years and continued to work as a court reporter until his death. He was a man of style and elegance, who enjoyed Dame all Football, sports, especially Notre and loved his summers at his home in Ocean City, NJ.

His passion for his profession was surpassed only by his for his family and his devout faith. After his retirement, he moved to Laurel to purchase and run a chicken farm. He was a certified pilot who flew small single engine airplanes. He was a scratch golfer and played many pro-am tournaments from his youth through middle age. Physical fitness was very important to him, as he loved to run and enjoy anything to do with the outdoors. He is survived by his 4 children, Duke Mercer and his wife, Sandy, of Rockville, MD, Jedd Mercer and his wife, Kim, Beltsville, MD, Susie Mercer of Frederick, MD and Matt Mercer of Odenton, MD; 5 grandchildren, Michelle, Steven, Vincent, Leo and Mark; and a sister, Ella Jane of Seattle, WA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 46 years, Doris Lester Mercer, who passed in 1995; and a brother, Tex Mercer. Richard was a devoted husband, father, poppop and brother. He is survived by Judy, his wife of 39 years; his children, Michelle Bradley and her husband, Patrick, Kristine Woods and her husband, Neil, and Rick Roberts and his wife, Cara; his brothers, Frank L. Roberts, Ill and Bruce D. Roberts; his sister, Carole R. Dubbs; and his grandchildren, Luke, Jimmy, Ben and Jack.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Resurrection Parish, 3000 Videre Drive, Skyline Ridge, Wilmington, on Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at 10:30 am.
