Further, they have names like Ginny and Vickie and Crazy and Sandy.

The purpose of all this diversity is to appeal to everyone. NIGHTS DARTS AND DARTS TOURNAMENTS "Oh, gross!" screamed two teen moviegoers during a particularly gruesome moment in "Friday the 13th Part 2." Gross is a pretty good way to describe it. Scary, bloody and violent come to mind, too.

Also, very effective. Last year the low-budget original made more than $35 million in its first seven weeks of play across the United States and Canada. No wonder, then, that the horror folk came up with a sequel to the "Camp Blood" adventures. I must admit to not having seen the original, but alas, I was not to be spared. The opening of the sequel includes lengthy flashbacks about the murderous Mrs.

Voorhees, who had decimated seven camp counselors and then gotten the ax herself because Oh, goodness, it's too silly to go into, except to say that Voorhees had a son, Jason, who instead of drowning turned into an aquatic devil out to destroy anyone in the vicinity of "Camp Blood," or, more reasonably, known as Camp Crystal Lake. The opening of Part 2 serves to refresh our memories, and let us know that Jason is still flexing his decapitation muscles. The action takes place five years later, with a group of young adults beginning their counselor training at Lake Region. Camp leader Paul (John Furey) warns everyone about dangerous bears and the legend of Jason. Everyone titters on screen, while off screen the two teens shrieked at them out, you Anyway, this cozy little campsite in- THROUGH THE WEEK SUN.

NIGHT 8-12 MOBILE MUSIC COMPLETE WITH D.J. li) 2" will appeal to horror lovers, though I don't know if it wilrattract psychology grad students and blond-haired men. It is gory, and its sole purpose is to scare us to show, as graphically as possible, ax murders, ice-pick stabbings, decapitations, All-American camp counselors falling by the bloody wayside. It escapes me why anyone chooses to sit through this horror, though thousands do so every day of the week. Carl Fullerton is the makeup wizard here, and his Jason deserves praise, as he's an effectively disgusting sight.

Otherwise, no one else needs to be singled out. Jaded though I was, a particular moment near the end of the film sent me scurrying under my seat, whimpering in my cold sweat. ORDINARY PEOPLE A fine story about a family trying to keep it together. Buena Vista. Rated a little swearing. Oscar winner. THE POSTMAN ALWAYS RINGS TWICE Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange star in this remake of the 1 946 thriller about a Depression drifter who falls for a cafe owner, and plots with her to do away with the husband.

Bob "Five Easy Pieces" Rafelson directs. Rated some sex and swearing. Buena Vista. Somehow too beautiful. RAGING BULL Robert De Niro won the best-actor honors for his portrayal of middleweight boxer Jake La Motta in a Martin Scorsese effort that was nominated for eight Oscars.

Campbell Plaza. RrMed very violent. Repellent, extraordinary, incomplete. SLEEPING BEAUTY The Disney classic returns. Rated El Dorado.

Not reviewed. TESS Roman Polanski's adaptation of the Thomas Hardy novel about a young woman damned by fate. It stars Nastassia Kinski. Buena Vista. Rated PG.

A lyrical treat. THIEF James Caan stars as a master thief. Coronado and Tucson 5 Haled R. Should steal away. TRIBUTE Jack Lemmon stars as a Broadway publicist dying of cancel who tries to straighten out his relationship with his son, played by Pobby Benson.
