HAMILTON EVENING RECORD HAS BEEN MADE BY UNION CENTRAL GO, An institution which had its inception in Hamilton, aud was. organized in Hamilton, is celebrating its sixty-fourth anniversary--the Union Central Life Insurance company, Cincinnati. This company has grown with a rapidity that has made it one of the outstanding insurance organizations of the country with total insurance now in force of 1K and assets placed at S32 34. Despite conditions this company wrote in new business (luring 1930. Tho founders of the Union Central Life Insurance company were John.P.

P. Peck, Judge Alexander Hume, Israel Williams, Job Owens, llicnjah Hughes, John W. Davis, James Jackson and Peter Murphy, all well known citizens and leaders' in civic, social and political affairs in Butler county half a cen- turv ngo. When the late Peter Murphy passed away, Judge Clarence Murphy, his son, was elected to -succeed liis-father on the directorate of. the Union Central Life Insurance company.

In 1903 Judge Murphy became member of the executive committee of the company and in 1920 chairman of this committee. In January, 192S, Judge Murphy became a member of the loans committee of the company, a committee which gives its approval to millions of dollars in loans made by the company each year. The duties which ilms developed upon 1 Judge Murphy compelled his retirement from the common pleas bench of Butler county in January, 1929, and the devotion of his entiro time to the important duties imposed by his position with the company. The Civic thcalro not belong to any individual or to any particular group, but will he a civic affair, and anybody who has ideas or who would bo interested to work lor and cooperate in the movement is urged -to attend the meetings. GIRL SCOUT SEWING PARTY FOR MOTHERS The sewing club for the wives of the unemployed, started last Thursday is being enthusiastically sponsored by the Girl Scout Council and leaders with the second meeting be- held Thursday. The GW Scouts eoiight some plan which would not only interest the wives the unemployed, i a social way but would also help them to provide clothes for their families. So that no mother need stay away lii-caiise of Iho children, the Council has made special arrangements to entertain the youngsters while mothers are busy. Tho material, furnished 'by the Girl Scout Council is cut out so that d'ormcr members the club can te- gin iewing immediately upon a skirt asked for at a previous meeting.

The new members, which numbered 10 Thursday were-given a towel to hem, a pan holder to make while they listed tho" things they desired to sew next week. The sewing machines are loaned by the 'Singer Sewing Machine coin- ipany and the mothers sew under the Girl Scout group while the children ranging in age six weeks to five years are otherwise occupied.
