The stock traded at higher than $30 a share last year, but had fallen to $16.50 yesterday. Current liabilities payable within the year ballooned to slightly more than $14 million, up more than 34 percent from a year earlier. While long-term debt was trimmed, short-term debt with interest rates averaging about 19 percent more than doubled. Total interest payments, after jumping 124.7 percent from 1980 to 1981, increased another 34 percent last year to $2.1 million. Much of the debt is secured personally by Mitchell.

Sharp overall losses also were tallied by West-world Oil Gas and by Old Vegas, a theme park in Henderson, Nev. The company is trying to sell land around Old Vegas to provide some much-needed cash, but Mitchell said that for now he has ruled out selling the park itself.
