lifestyle TUCSON, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 26. 1975 SECTION PAGE ONE Can Miracles Be Possible Through The Power Of The Pyramid? has mathematical perfection, precision in its stone that can only be matched by today's opticians working on very small units and size and weight that would require heavy construction equipment to move. Schul built his own copies of the Great Pyramids out of a variety of materials and started his research. Meanwhile, Ed Pettit was doing the same thing. About three years ago they combined forces and report the following occurrences: "Tarnished jewelry and coins apparently are polished by energy forces working within the pyramid.

"Polluted water has been purified by being placed within a pyramid for several days, according to laboratory reports. "Milk remains fresh for several days and eventually turns into yogurt, whereas milk in an identical container immediately outside the pyramid sours. (A French firm has patented a pyramidal-shaped container for mak-. ing yogurt and an Italian milk company uses pyramidal-shaped cartons for its milk.) "Meat, eggs, placed in the pyramid are mummified and dehydrated. "Flowers in a pyramid dehydrate, but retain their form and color.

"Cuts and bruises, burns, apparently heal faster after being exposed to the space within the pyramid. Toothaches and migraine headaches have reportedly been eliminated and several persons have claimed relief from rheumatism and arthritis after sitting for a time in a pyramid. "After using water that had been placed in a pyramid as a face lotion for five weeks, Mrs. Pettit found her friends asking about her youthful appearance. "Water that had been sitting in a pyramid seems to serve as a digestive aid, and when used on a wound, apparently makes it heal faster.

uf A By EDITH SAYRE ARMSTRONG Star Staff Writer Generations of humans have been entranced by the majesty of the pyramids their stately grace and imposing appearance. But there is a new breed of admirers who is beginning to think that a pyramid is more than just a pretty face. The hypothesis is that the pyramid shape has unusual powers, radiating fields of energy that can preserve, heal, teach, purify, accelerate growth and rejuvenate. "Maybe," says Bill Schul, a man who does not want to impose his thinking on anyone, but only seeks to share his ideas and experiences with others. When talking about pyramids, Schul's vocabulary is full of qualifying words like "seems to," "perhaps," 'Polluted water has been purified by being placed within a pyramid for several days "possibly" and "could be." The truth' is, he's not sure and Bill Schul is the first to admit it.

What he does know for sure is that his experiments with pyramids have had fascinating results, which he has documented with co-author Ed Pettit, in a new book called "The Secret Power of Pyramids." It's the mere placing of objects in pyramids of all sizes, without the influence of any special rays or sounds, that is credited with making plants grow faster, saving damaged fingers that were to have been amputated, preserving food and making the thought process more productive. Many who have studied pyramids have tried to find reasons for what happens. Dr. Luis Alvarez, who won the Nobel Prize in physics in 1968, thought the pyramid had something to do with cosmic rays. After careful study, his conclusion was that "what was occurring was not only impossible, but some energy was being registered that does not conform to the laws of science." The Schul and Pettit experiments, related in their book, concentrate on duplicate dimensions of the Great Pyramids at Gizeh, near Cairo, in the United Arab Republic.

"The largest, heaviest, oldest and most perfect structure created by human hands, the Great Pyramids 'Perhaps the pyramid has powers that can preserve, heal, teach, purify, accelerate growth and says Bill Schul. But the truth is, he's not sure "It has been estimated that this pyramid contains more solid masonry than all the cathedrals, churches and chapels built in England since the time of Christ." The place in the pyramid that is important is what is called "the King's Chamber," centered at a point on the true north-south axis. Experiments, using a control whenever possible, were conducted by Schul and Pettit in other locations in the pyramids, but this is the point that produced most impressive results. Their qualified conclusion is, "The evidence to date, then, would seem to indicate that the notable exceptions (in the Great Pyramid) point to a highly advanced civilization preceding us upon this globe some time back in the shadows of prehistory, and that this knowledge was somehow lost." They elude to influence from other places in space or from a superior mind source in the form of revelation. However it got there, the Great Pyramid is there and "can no longer be dismissed as a man-made mountain of stone designed to serve an inconsequential role as a tomb," they say.

Although there had been some writings about pyramid power before, it was a 1970 book called "Psychic Discoveries Behind the Iron Curtain" by reporters Sheila Ostrander and Lynn Schroeder that caught Schul's fancy. When asking residents of Czechoslovakia about the purpose of small, inexpensive pyramids they saw elsewhere, the reporters were told mat-ter-of-factly, "they're razor blade sharpeners." And what they did was keep razor blades placed in them sharp and free from rust. Their use was a very common practice in Czechoslovakia and Russia. In town recently to attend the First National Congress of Integrative Health, Schul spoke to members of the Society of Southwestern Authors. 'Water that had been sitting in a pyramid seems to serve as a digestive aid "The taste of coffee, wine, fruit juice, is improved when placed in a pyramid for a time.

"Food stuffs placed in a garbage container in the shape of a pyramid dehydrate without creating an odor. "Persons who have sat in pyramids for several minutes to several hours have reported feeling more relaxed and vitalized. A number have claimed that meditation is much easier within the pyramid. After one teenage girl started sleeping inside a pyramid, her mother reported that the child was less nervous and had lost some needed weight." And the studies go on and on, resulting in data that might make some say, "Aw, come on, now." Schul is well aware of this reaction, but he challenges, "You try it." As for other pyramids, there are many around the world, in South America, China, the Himalayan mountains, Siberia, Mexico, Central America, Cambodia, France, England and the United States. So why the emphasis on the Great Pyramid, also called Cheops Pyramid? Because it is the largest and most perfect, the authors explain.

trash in our minds, it will materialize out there." An author of several books, he has been active with convict rehabilitation, parapsychology and medicine, youth work and he served as a consultant in preventive psychiatry at the Menninger Foundation in Kansas. Hopeful and positive in his approach to living, Schul points out that "It is man's weaknesses that have caused him to -advance, not his strengths. Not able to fly like a bird, he devised a way to fly faster; not having the endurance of the deer, he developed mechanisms to last longer; not having the eye of an eagle, he built microscopes that can see farther. If we had been as able as all of these, there wouldn't have been the challenge." As for the pyramid could it be the doctor, the psychiatrist, the garbage disposal, the weight-reducer, the yogurt-maker and the beauty cream of the future the wonder machine of all time? "Could be," Schul smiles, then what is time?" Schul has a traditional educational and family background that includes study in fundamentalist religion, service in the military and upbringing on a midwestern'farm. "Living on a farm, I'd always felt this oneness with nature," explains Schul.

He says that for a time in his growing up years, "a bitterness set in I felt the need to search for a journey." The journey he found through meditation has motivated Schul and his wife Jeann'e to teach others the technique for 25 years. Schul became convinced that "unless we make it a better world in which to live, we don't deserve to live in a better world." He believes that through extended states of awareness, the world will be a better place. A person starts the betterment process with himself, he says. "It's fine to be concerned about ecology and go out and pick up beer cans, but if we don't first clean up the The taste of coffee, wine, fruit, juice is improved when placed in a pyramid. "Aluminum foil, placed for a time in a pyramid prior to using as a wrap for baking meat, greatly reduced the cooking time.

Foil that has been in a pyramid made into the shape of a hat and wcm on top of the head seems to get rid of headaches and to foster relaxation..
