The movie was made in 1968, and, if you haven't already noticed, tempus sure does fugit. Howes, who plays Truly Scrumptious, a sticky name that doesn't get in the way of the radiance of the actress playing her, is now, incomprehensibly, 82 years old. But when she arrives to introduce the film you don't have to make much of an adjustment.

She carries her years lightly, and her justified fondness for the film is apparent. The West Palm Beach resident is a total pro, but then she ought to be she was born into it. Her father was Bobby Howes, a legendary comedian, song-and-dance man and actor on West End stages, who played everything from El-wood P. Dowd in "Harvey," to Og the Leprechaun in "Fini-an's Rainbow" to Archie Rice in "The Entertainer."
