According to President Richard A. Harvill, the Fund for Adult Education, a branch of the Ford Foundation, has made a conditional offer of $40,000 to the university for the purchase of transmitter and antenna equipment needed for the completion of the TV station. The offer is contingent upon approval of the university's engineering plans for the station and the FCC's grant of a construction permit Money from the fund will go toward purchasing a transmitter, 250-foot tower and antenna equipment which will provide power of 1,000 watts. The UA has complete television studio equipment in Herring Hall which was remodeled, last year for radio, TV, and film purposes. The station's programs will be available this fall to all television homes within a 20-mile radius of the campus, except in locations where mountains will cut off the signal.

The UA plans to be on the air televising two hours a night, five nights a week, according to Dr. Ben C. Markland, manager of the UA Radio Television Bureau. The station's facilities also will be available to the Tucson Public Schools for educational telecasts. The UA will be the 14th state university to have its own television station.
