The Delaware track, located just behind the football stadium, is now completing its second season while the Franklin Field oval is still a rookie. But the results are the same. George Hansell, coach of two-time Middle Atlantic Conference College Division champion and current favorite PMC Colleges yesterday predicted "every MAC record" would be shattered during the two-day conference meet which wound up today at Delaware. The green Delaware oval was actually the first quarter-mile Tartan outdoor track in the East.

According to track superintendent Bill Davis, there are six domestic white ducks, nine mallards from places unknown and seven Canadian honkers presently residing on the yet-to-be-named pond. Exactly what keeps them all from winging it across the Concord Pike is a closely guarded secret, but rumor has it a stork or two may be on the way. The lake, which varies in depth from two to seven feet, is already stocked with fish (another idea for a 4 a.m. story) and is part of the "New Look" program at the Naamans Road plant. The whole show is a far cry from the 1953 inaugural when a 21-night session opened on Labor Day. Never before has Brandywine run for more than 75 nights. Shrubs and flowers have been planted In the little island that rests in the center of the lake and flower beds have been laid down on the northern end of the tote board.
