THIRTEEN, Percy Owen Joins Dodge Brothers chief of the Automo- fvislon. Department of Com- -rvnshlngton, will join Dodge Detroit, on October 1st as dlreor of foreign sales. Announcement of Mr. appointment was made today by F. L.

Sanford, general sales manager of Dodge Brothurs, Inc. Mr. Owen Is known throughout the United States and abroad for his long and Important activities In the automobile Industry and as an official of the U. S. Department of Commerce His entry Into the automobile busl ness dates back to 1889.

For 12 yoara he was a dealer, branch man ager, Importer nnd eastern sales manager for Winton, Blanchl (Italian and Chalmers cars. In 1012 ho be came general sales manager and dl rector of the Chalmers Motor Car Co. Detroit. In 191B he was vice presl dent of; the Snxon Motor Car Com pany and from 1918 t6 1924 was president and general manager of thfl Lib- irty Motor Car Co. Mr.

Owen than Joined the Department of. Commerce as chief of tho automotive division and In this capac- ty has achieved results of vast benefit to tho Industry and to the manufacturing Interests of the country, an a whole. Only last winter ha was the official representative of the United States government at the In ternatlonat meeting of Central Coun ell of Automobile Tourism In Paris. He has Investigated the automoblln Industry of Europs on behalf of tha United States, visiting nlno countries, Inspecting all the principal automo, bile manufacturing plants and conferring with various government of- clals. In addition to being chief of the automotive division, Mr.

Owen Is Chairman of the following Department of Commerce committees: Pan American; Foreign Exhibits; Highways. He Is also the Department of Commerca representative on the committee of federal specifications board on standardization of motor propelled Vehicles. For several yearn Mr. Owen was president and director of the New York Automobile Association! also treasurer and director, National Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Dodga Brothers foreign sales have shown substantial Increases year after year and are now a major fact6r in the company's business as a whole.
