MONDAY. JANUARY 12. a iil Robber Holds Up Store Near East Alton Pushes Way in as Miss Emma Unterkrink Is Closing EAST ALTON, Jan. Mtes Emma Unterbrink. who conducts a small grocery on the state road at Niagara, was robbed by a youthful bandit Friday evening while (done in the store.

Miss Unterbrlnk was closing for the night -about 7:30 when she saw a young man come to the front door. Stepping to the door, which she had locked while working at the cash register, she asked the young what he wanted. He replied mat he wanted a package of cigar- Miss Unterbrlnk got a package and went to the door, which she opened to hand to him. When the door was unlocked the man pushed his way into the store, tslllng Mrs. Unterbrlnk he wanted what money she had.

He rushed to cash register, taking the change which was still there. Miss Unterbrlnk had taken the bills from th6 register while checking up and had hidden them. Leaving the robber in the store Miss Unterbrlnk ran to the street for help, during which time he made His escape. She said the man, who appeared to be about 30 years old, was a stranger to her although ehe was posotlvc she could Identify him as he wore no mask. The loss was only about $3.

Wood River Class Honors Three of Its Aged Members WOOD RIVER, Jan. Three senior members of the Loyal Ladies' Class of the Wood River Christian church were presented With gifts during the class's regular business and social meeting at the home of Mrs. Frank Van Meter, 816 Condit street. The women are Mrs. Amy Waggoner.

82, Lucy Wilder, 81, and Mrs. Jennie Owens, 13, all of have been loyal workers in, the class.
