Officers of Franklin county today were checking meager clews to the bandits, who went east in an almost new car. All the bandits had dark complexions. One was 6 feet tall and slender, another was short and stocky and a third was 1 unusually short It was believed a fourth wa's In the car. I Three, bandits entered the store brandishing guns. They were unmasked.

In the store were Mrs. Godfrey and her two sons, Clinton and Donald; Mrs. R. E. Scott' and small son and Miss Ruth Stagner, customers, and Mike Sprole, -607 Bast State street Mason City, who was at the store on business.

one bandit stood guard, other two searched all the customers, getting about $30 from Mr. Sprole. They took from the money drawer and from the two Godfrey sons. The safe was open but they got only papers there. The bandits also took a sack of sugar and a sack of flour.

Friday afternoon, shortly before 8 o'clock, an excited man went into the Hampton banks to warn them that when he had been driving to Hampton from Chapin, four men with sawed' off shotguns tried to hold him up. The bandits asked him if he was going to Pes Motaes. He didn't stop, however, and after he reached Hampton a search was started for the four, who could not be found. At the first session on Friday night there were nearly 100 delegates and pastors registered and on the following days many more registered. Preus, president of Luther college, gave a talk. The church was filled to capacity for nearly all the sessions. Fayette County Fair Gate Receipts $8,048 WEST UNION, Aug. 27. The jate receipts at the Fayette county fair which ended its annual exhibi- Friday were $8,048.10, which is $993.25 higher than the gate receipts in 1933.

Each day in turn showed an increase over the corresponding day of last year except Frilay, the fair being $1,323.75 ahead Thursday night, but Friday was a cloudy, windy day, with the mercury almost down to freezing point, so that day showed a loss of $330.50. EMMETSBURG, Aug. thirty-seventh annual Labor day celebration will be held at Graettinger Sept. 3 with Dan Turner, republican candidate for governor of Iowa, and Joseph J. Meyers, eighth district democratic congressional candidate, featured speakers of the day. Free street acts, a concert by the Milford band, a baseball game between Mallard and Estherville, a bowery dance and a boxing and wrestling show are some of the events included in the day's program.

In the wrestling show, Earl Wampler, Scranton, will mix with Frankie French of Renwick, under Texas rules. In the boxing arena, Verae Trickel of Albert Lea, will fight Barney Hassel of Graettinger in a six round bout A.Y.P. Restaurant at Gamer Is Sold Again GARNER, Aug. Ackerman purchased the A. T.

P. restaurant and has taken possession. Mr. Ackerman came from Buffalo Center where he operated the Commercial hotel and restaurant. Dave Smith, owner of the A.

Y. P. restaurant, had returned and had only opened the restaurant a few days before selling to Mr. Ackerman. Mr.

and Mrs. Roy Schwartz, who formerly were in charge, plan to leave Garner. Attend District Conference. GREENE, Aug, Rev. and Mrs.

Eikenberry, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and other members of the local Church of the Brethren left Friday for Preston, to attend the district conference. Having the kids at home doesn't require much change except another jreakfast at 11 a. Inn Tribune.

They were- at Niagara Falls at the time of the rock slide. Deputy Has Operation. Sheriff Leslie Brower was taken to Park hospital, Mason City, Satuday where he was operated on for the removal of his appendix. Mr. Brower had been ill two days before hospital.

Mystery mother-daughter banquet with about 60 participating was given by members of the Woman's Foreign Missionary society to the Standard Bearer girls and their own mothers at the Methodist church Friday evening. Mrs. J. E. DeLong, president of the missionary society, presided and gave the welcome.

The Rev. J. E. DeLong gave the invocation and led in group singing. Mrs.

Stella Mason of Mason City, who gave a talk on Russia. TUCKER FATALLY BURNED BY PAINT Former Geneva Businessman Dies in Illinois From Factory Mishap. GENEVA, Aug. Jane" Loomis received word Saturday that her brother-in-law, George Tucker of Galesburg, was dead 'rom burns received when he fell into a trough of hot paint while at work in a factory. Mr.

Tucker was reared in Geneva and about 30 years ago operated one of the elevators for J. A. Waddington. Loren Charles Hance, 86, Was Engagd in Real Estate Business.

NASHUA, Aug. 27. Loren Charles Hance, 86, died at Ionia Friday. He is survived by a son and a daughter, Mrs. H.

J. Potter of St Cloud, who had been staying with him the past two years and caring for him. His early life was spent in farming but in later years he' was engaged in the real estate business. He had lived in Ionia 78 years. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Congregational church in Ionia and burial was at Chickasaw.
