"I think a citizen always oujfht to be available if it appears there is a need in public office," the former state superintendent of public instruction snid in an interview. Mrs. Wnnnmaker wouldn't mention any particular office, and stressed that a move in that field wasn't more than possibility. But she didn't hesitate to name one office she won't seek the public Instruction job from which she was ousted last year by elec- ion of Lloyd Andrews of Spokane. NOT THAT OFFICE "I said after the election," she iommented, "that I wouldn't run lor that office again.

I haven't ihanged my mind." If Mrs. Wanamaker did re-enter politics it would be as a Democrat. The school post is nonpartisan, but the Seattle woman was elected state representative and state senator as a Democrat before 1941. Mrs. Wanamaker now is West- irn regional field sesrvice director Eor Scholastic Magazines, a job that requires considerable travel and keeps her in touch with educational leaders.

How does she like private business after four terms in office? The work for educational magazines means the same general objectives, she explained "but you don't have the sometmies unreasonable criticism as in public office. You don't have to wait for a legislative appropriation." Mrs. Wanamaker, who was president of the National Education Assn. while she was state superintendent, has remained active in school affairs outside her magazine job. She addressed education groups recently in Alaska and Wisconsin and is finishing a term as one of five educators advising the National Citizens Committee for Better Schools.

Doctors said after the operation that both were in "good" condition, but added it would be 72 hours before it can toe determined if the kidney will function properly. A team of surgeons took a healthy kidney from Jimmy and transplanted it to Jerry. Jerry had two ailing kidneys and doctors said that unless his twin gave him one of his healthy ones Jerry might not live long. At present kidney transplants are possible only when identical twins are involved. Five previous kidney transplant operations have been performed successfully all at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.

The Foster twins are the youngest ever to undergo such an operation. Because they are minors, State Supreme Court permission was necessary to absolve the surgeons and the hospital of any responsibility. Doctors will remove Jerry's ailing kidneys in subsequent operations.
