TUCSON, SATURDAY, JULY 8, 1972 THE ARIZONA DAILY STAR SECTION PAGE SEVEN ALLEY OOP BROTHER Democratic Convention To Dominate Airwaves Democrats' Clambake Promises Fun For All By TOM RISTE Star TV Writer You don't have to be a Democrat to enjoy 'The National Democratic Telethon" set for 184 hours tonight on the ABC network. I imagine that Republicans and Independents and even a Whig or two might appreciate some of the talent scheduled to appear in this fund-raising drive. In case you haven't heard, the national Democratic Party is some $9 million in debt from the last presidential election and tonight's clambake is designed to get them out of hock. It's as simple as that. To say that a of famous folk will be on hand would be the understatement of the decade.

It may well be the most formidable line-up of celebrities ever TV Highlights scheduled to perform on national television. Here in Tucson the ABC affiliate is Channel 9. Somebody has finally started going to the trouble of cutting through the legal red tape that is necessary to get them back on the air. The biggest problems are gaining rights to the shows and finding the cast members so that residuals can be paid.
