Angeles Reflections FORTY YEARS AGO SEPT. 3 Clallam Canning Co. up to this time has bought and canned or preserved more than 30,000 pounds of loganberries from local growers with the price to all of per pound, taken from These berries were a total area of less than seven acres and from a total of 16 growers, the smallest having one bush and the largest a fraction over four acres. The cannery is here to stay and with business men of the caliber of Donald Mclnnes as president and Howard H. Van Brocklin as secretary behind it, no one needs to worry about finding a market.

TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO The standing room only sign was up in Port Angeles over the Labor Day holiday. Hotels, lodging houses and private homes were unable to provide beds for the hundreds of guests who were in the city Sunday night. Hotels put extra beds in the hallways. One hospital furnished beds for several couples, and every resort within a radius of 50 miles was filled to overflowing. The mean temperature here in August was 58.2 degrees, which was 1.5 degrees above highest temperature during the month was 82 degrees on the 27th and the lowest 42 degrees on the 20th, according to Leon Button, meteorologist, retired.

Chicken with Mushroom Sauce Rice Green Beans Salad Rolls Blackberry Tarts Tea or Coffee CHICKEN WITH MUSHROOM SAUCE Ingredients; 1 small broiler- fryer, cup flour, 1 teaspoon salt, V4 teaspoon pepper, teaspoon paprika, cup butter or margarine, 1 can (3 ounces) sliced mushrooms, cup heavy cream, 2 to 4 tablespoons sherry. Method: Have chicken cut into 10 pieces.

Mix flour, salt pepper and paprika; coat chicken with mixture. Brown chicken in butter in large skillet; cover tightly and cook until tender, turning as necessary. Remove chicken. Add cup liquid from mushrooms to skillet; stir over low heat to get up browned particles. Mix in drained mushrooms, cream and sherry.
