COLORADO, TEXAS, NEW MEXICO, MICHIGAN Jl EL Wa tuMfmJf Connie Clark threw a two-hitter yesterday to give Phoenix Greenway a 2-0 victory over Cholla High School and the Class AAA state high school softball championship. It was the first time a Class AAA team has won two straight softball titles. Clark gave up two singles in the first inning but allowed only one ball out of the infield the rest of the game at Sunnyside High School. She struck out seven, walked none and hit one batter. "It's always tough to face someone of that caliber for the first time," Cholla Coach Jerry Gastellum said.

"She had a good change and good movement on the ball." Clark, a righthander, is 23-1 this season. She was 21-5 last season. Greenway pitching Coach Dave Smith said Clark, a senior, has talked with coaches at the University of California and the University of Smith said Clark has straightened out her delivery more since she bruised the elbow on her pitching arm Friday against Tucson. He said he didn't want to take the chance of her hitting her elbow against her body. Greenway took a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Kelly Melrose singled, went to second on Shannon Gardner's single to left field and scored when leftfielder Barbara Macias dropped the ball after it bounced. In the fifth, Greenway's Tracy Martinka walked, went to second on a sacrifice, took third on a wild pitch and scored when Margaret Steciak was walked by Cindy Martinez with the bases loaded. Martinez relieved starter Marina Garcia in the fifth with runners on first and second and no one out. Martinez walked her first two batters, but got out of the inning with three straight groundouts. Cholla is 21-8.
