Pitt Storms To 26-7 Triumph West Virginia's Bowl Hopes Are Wiped Out PITTSBURGH, Xov. 12 W) Pittsburgh's magnificent 225 pound ends, "Mean John" Paluck and Joe Walton, jarred previously unbeaten West Virginia into fumbling chaos today and shattered the Mountaineers' bowl ambition 26-7 before 57,996 at Pitt stadium. The game had a bizarre ending with West Virginia getting its lone touchdown after the contest apparently had ended and a free extra point because there was no goal post.

Walton snared a six yard pass from Quarterback Pete Neft to climax a 63 yard strike midway in the first period and his fellow fjagman Paluck, single-handedly smashed up West Virginia plays to produce two more scores in the space of a minute and 26 seconds at the start of the second half. The fans thinking the game was over swarmed on the field and tore down the goal posts. The field was cleared for a final play on which Joe Marconi swung around left and barely got into the end zone for West Virginia's lone touchdown.
